What's your favourite fa cup memory?

Sat Jan 07, 2012 7:46 am

Many will say Leeds or the recent run to the final. Although these were special moments my favourite still has to be man city home in 1994!
I was only 16 and can remember, after Blake scored that special goal, the sky cameras panned straight over to the bob bank where I you can see thousands of city going wild including myself with my city top off and swinging it around my head

Then moments before the final whistle the whole bob bank side of the touchline full with fans waiting for the whistle to run on to the pitch!!

Got to still be my favourite memory

I'm only 15 so I dont really have much of a choice - the run up to the final - but 2 moments really stood out for me. Jimmy Floyd's goal against Wolves at Ninian Park, a lot like Nathan Blake's Man City goal. And the pure class and skill shown by Whitts for the opening goal against Boro at the Riverside.
Also Ledley's semi final goal is up there too :ayatollah:

Top five F.A cup moments

1. ManCity with Blake and His Fruit Machine.
2. Leeds united.
3. Ledelys semi final goal.
4. Middlesbrough replay at ayersome park (Blakey again).
5. Almost every Cardiff Fan that was at the final who stayed to watch Pompy lift the cup.
( my mates a Pompy fan and he said it was so unusual to see a team lift the cup in front of a full stadium and he talks of his respect for the City fans for that gesture.)

Beating Spurs 1-0 in 1975 game at a packed Ninian Park. Peter Sayer scored if i remember rightly, also a game notable for the off field ruck between the 2 sets of hard core fans. They were out early and then stated lobbing bricks into the front of the ground, cue absolute mayhem :o Lost my big bro then he found me after i was pulled into a pub to escape a hiding from the Spurs lot. his hands were a mess mind :D happy days :ayatollah:

I remember that game it was brilliant. Bouncing up and down on the old Grange End wooden planks

The fighting afterwards was every where I can remember mayhem in Jubilee Park as different gangs fought toe to toe.

I remeber the pitched battles off the pitch more than the game on it, i was 13 then and had never been scared before!!
The Llanrumney mob were about then and they were in the thick of it :D

Easily my first one, City 1-Spurs 0, Jan 8th 1977, Sayer goal also shown on MOTD. I was an 15 yr old in the old Grange End, & what an atmosphere!
