" SO MALKY HAS CHOSEN THE CARLING CUP "

Fri Jan 06, 2012 2:51 pm

So Malky has fielded the first team for most of the Carling Cup, I might be wrong and it could be all the Carling Cup games.

Tomorrow at WBA in the FA CUP there will be big changes and Earnshaw will be our main player.

I will be stunned/shocked if we beat WBA.

What would you have done ?

I think Malky realises his squad is so small and has gone for the Carling Cup first, which I would of done, I do believe if we had had 3 or 4 more players we would of been in a stronger position for the WBA game and Malky would of gone for a win there as well.

Are the 1,400 City fans that are travelling to WBA being let down tomorrow ?

No not let down. We have to be realistic. Malky is doing the right thing if he makes lots of changes. None of the cups are that wonderful in the early stages as most teams rotate. With a lack of reserve team football some players need a run out and some need a rest.

In fairness annis we are two games away from wembley which will be a money spinner if successful and promotion or ending up in the playoffs is more important than an Fa cup run.
On the other side of the coin i dont see WBA putting out a strong side as staying up is going to be a priority for them and so i think both camps will rest their most important players for the more important games.
To be honest the Fa cup the last couple of years has started to go the same way as the carling cup with most of the top teams resting players and fielding fringe players

I think Malky will play nearly all the starting team that started against Reading last week! However i think he needs to give Earnie a game!

I still feel we can cause a big cup upset Annis

I don't believe we are going to be let down as many were expecting it (if it happens, and I believe it will).
In a strange way I am looking forward to it.
To see the "fringe" players, how they will cope and lets be honest WBA are not a top premier league team. It will give us and the manager an idea of how good they are, will they fit into our team when needed (and where), also they will have a point to prove so will hopefully try a lot harder.
Match fitness will be improved instead of sitting around on match day as usual for some.
I cannot complain if there is weak team as I only just got our tickets so I knew in advance.

Agree a few more players would have been great but the club has big debts to pay off and we only want Malky players not DJ players, if you get what I mean.

i thinks its the right choice i do prefer the fa cup but we are in the semi-final of the carling cup so lets go for it if we didnt have a midweek game i think malky would have put a strong side out but west brom will be resting players to plus they got a few injuries aswell so it could go either way :ayatollah:

i agree with malky to give the fringe players a chance and also our semi is a massive game this could be in our advantage as all the fringe players will be busting to get into tuesdays team and wba have 8 out so with a bit of luck we could still beat them but one thing we dont need is a draw and another game for our small squad

have we got any news to say there will be big changes? because i really dont think there will be more than 3-4 changes from the reading side. even then the likes of conway and kev looking for game time is hardly weakening us too much.

i think malky should and would go out to win it.

the carling cup wont doesnt bring anywhere near the amounts the FA cup does and malkay will definatly put out a team who can not only compete but will the game against a west brom side

Re: " SO MALKY HAS CHOSEN THE CARLING CUP "

He has rested players in every carling cup game even against Leicester a load didn't play including Witts.
Blackburn the only game he went full strength.

He has to field a weakened team against WBA. Anyone with an ounce of football knowledge would have known this was going to happen so don't see why anyone would feel left down.

Tbh I'm surprised at the strength in depth we have when you look at the back up 11 we have, all good enough for the first 11. Probably won't beat WBA but we don't know if the first 11 would.

Good for the so called reserves to get a proper run out as we have no proper reserve league to play in.
I hope to god we dont get any injuries in either cup game as the league is far far more important to us.

£15 a ticket for tomorrow is a bargain :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

To be honest Annis I have a totally opposite view of this. The first few Carling Cup games we didnt play all first team players, Parkin, Naylor, Quinn, Earnie etc. played some if not all the games up to & including the Win over Leicester on pens.

There will be no let down tomorrow for those travelling up! Malky will still put a team out to win ie 2 up top, Earnie & Rudy & the team will as we know battle right till the final whistle. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

West Brom have had 2 losses, one at home & haven't scored a goal in these losses. They've just lost their captain to injury & have plenty of other injuries to. To be honest their priority is survival and I think we can take them up there tomorrow. I really believe that :ayatollah:

i agree we will be going out strong.

i think something like this

Heaton
Blake/kev gerrard hudson taylor
conway whitts gunnarson cowie
earnshaw gestede

mason kiss blake/kev parrish miller

i cant see mcphail or ralls making this one.

it is hard to judge though as alot of people have knocks

Some of you are clearly smoking something if you think whitts or Gunnar will be anywhere near that starting 11 tomorrow

i knew when i bought my ticket that we would be fielding a different 11 to our normal starting line up, so no dont feel let down, i would of been very suprised if he had done any different

the 11 that wear the sirt 2morrow are stll CCFC players and will do their best,
and I fancy Earnie to grab the winner.

Malky will not play near enought the same 11 that started against reading. Annis stated this in his post at the start, , " there will be big changes, with earnie bein our main man " read the post correct please

Until the starting 11 is picked no-one will know exactly,so no need to have a dig at carwyn for saying his opinion

i would do the same we got a small squad and nothing has been done about it so if we go out its are own fault simple as :ayatollah:

Deffers the correct decision. He has been saving the best for the big game. Earnie Hat trick to win the game! Going to put a bet on now :)

Whoever Malky puts out against WBA will wear the blue shirt with pride I am sure and give 100% like every other player has in every other match this season. Win, lose or draw we can't ask for more than that :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: Even if he were to play all the kids we would not go down without one hell of a fight I am sure. Cardiff City now has a never say die attitude from top to bottom and long may that continue :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: " SO MALKY HAS CHOSEN THE CARLING CUP "

Not a let down for me,I'm not bothered what team he picks aslong has they give 100% and try their best that's all we can ask for :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: " SO MALKY HAS CHOSEN THE CARLING CUP "

Fri Jan 06, 2012 5:27 pm

we tough to beat no matter the squad 100% is all i'll be looking for :ayatollah:

but personally i got a good feeling that we could win with a second string squad and cause an upset but that's what im like every game

Re: " SO MALKY HAS CHOSEN THE CARLING CUP "

Malky used the carling cup to gel the new players quicker it just happened the carling cup games come really earlier in the season. Now we have got so far only makes sense to go for it.

The boys will go out to win tomorrow and as long as it's sorted one way or the other I don't mind.

I'm not greedy and will accept a double, considering all the bad luck we've had over the seasons.

A treble is asking a bit too much though :ayatollah:

i am 1 of those 1400 and i dont think we are being let down. our fringe players need game time and this is the perfect game for them to get that. Malky will put out a reasonably strong bench so if theres players on that pitch that are not doing a job im sure he,ll bring on some of our first teamers

Practically every one of the 1400 going up will be aware that Malky is
not going to be fielding a full side.

Malky knows they know, the players know they know.

Win or lose its a proud day tomorrow, City fans showing the gaffer and
the WHOLE squad that there really is only one love!!!

Hats off to you Gents.

Also, even plastic taff is getting in on the act next week. My flight to
pastures warm has been delayed and Doncaster is on the radar!!!

Not been there since the early 80's when Joe Dwyer was sat in the stand
when we all went wandering across the stand for some fun and games and
he was shouting "get into them lads" and laughing

Sadly, that day my head got split open in a boozer by a flying plate... the
c**t never even left any chips on it
