we didnt sell him, he left on a free.

we didnt even get compensation because i dont think we get any as he signed to a team outside england.

so no we get nothing no matter what happens to matthews.

He's not our player so age does'nt come into it, as for a sell on clause i doubt if we put put one in i think Carlos could probably update us on that issue

we cant pee a see on fee as he let his contract expire and signed on a free to celtc, he didnt transfer and so no negotiatins were done between the clubs

i can assure you if a player leaves on a free then there is no deal between to two sides, no contracts, agreements or sell on fees.

Matthews left at the end of his contract, not on a free. There's a difference. A free transfer can mean a player leaves while still under contract for no fee but with whatever add-ons/sell-ons the clubs negotiate. A player at the end of his contract, like Matthews, can sign for any other club and any signing-on fee goes to him/his agent. There is however the issue of compensation for players under the age of 24 at the end of their contracts. This is minimal and was probably agreed between the clubs and wouldnt involve a sell-on fee....
