Having served nearly 13 years in the British Army, I find it hard to accept that the government can keep on cutting the defence budget year on year, especially with our commitments in Afghanistan etc., but I know that this country and many other countries are in dire straits and cutbacks have to be made somewhere!

It's about time some politicians were honest about things though and don't just keep on contesting government policies, just because they are in opposition!

My lad is one of FORTY that put their chits in to leave the marines
the day he got back from Afghanistan... thats a third of the bootnecks
in his outfit. Across the Royal Marines they are leaving left right and
centre to do Maritime Security (£2k a week!!)
