VERY POOR JOURNALISM

Fri Jan 06, 2012 9:49 am

Just reading the echo and the pages about the Leeds FA Cup game. They have a where are they now bit on players.
They show a picture of Rio Ferdinand and say he is trudging off after his dismissal.
He went off injured for fooks sake after Gavin Gordon clattered him from behind.
Rant over but seriously there are mistakes in this so called paper every day of the week.

What makes me laugh is the snobbery of the average journo, with their alleged degree or this or that qualification and yet a lot of what they write is so juvenile and loads of inaccuracies can always be found. The South Wales Echo is a dreadful paper but, as it's the only one that has regular CCFC coverage, I find myself still buying it - mug that I am.

i agree, its no surprise (and this is no offense to carl) that they have carl doing a column because atleast he is a good writer and he has half a clue what he is on about.

i also hate the opinions of some of them too. when we win we get massivly talked up and over rated. when we lose 9 out of the 11 are on the transfer list by there performaces.

i dont even read it any more i could do better

The main thing I dislike about Terry Phillips' match reports is that you know who his favourites are. Sometimes, certain players may have had a stinker, but you wouldn't know it from what he's written.

I also hate the way half the report can be about something other than the match itself. They need to put that in a separate article.

Never mind, they'll never be as bad as commentary on Radio Wales. Don't get me started on that!

The echo is a joke, egotistical biased and poor journalism is putting it kindly, the price is laughable as well.

To be fair that is a pretty small mistake isn't it, I doubt many would have noticed much less cared

I actually don't mind the Echo, ok it's not The Times or The Guardian or whatever but it is just a local rag, and having worked a lot around the UK it's no worse than any other local rag with a modest circulation, and considerably better than some. You haven't got to go far to see some truly terrible local newspapers, ever read the South Wales Argus!?

It's very easy to drive a bus through most articles in the SWE in particular when they start using statistics. On Tuesday Terry Phillips wrote an article on the Reading match claiming we were the only home team to score more than 1 goal against them this season in the League.

Now before Monday Reading had only played 10 away games so it's not a lot to check such a statement, in fact 2 other teams had scored more than 1 goal at home to Reading (Bristol City & Ipswich).

If you read their claptrap you just have to make allowances. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
