If you got a hdmi slot on your laptop and one on your telly, then you just need a hdmi cable.

my TV is about 3 years old and I connect from laptop using the blue VGA output and the 4mm audio jack output from the laptop to the TV's corresponding inputs , if your laptop has an HDMI output then use that instead . My laptop doesnt have HDMI .

This is the best solution for you, nice and simple, after you connect your hdmi from your laptop to your tv simply select the relevant 'source' with your tv remote, eg: hdmi 1 or 2

Did you change the output source on the laptop?. There should be a button at the top by the function keys which shows the picture of a monitor. If it's like mine, you have to press the "fn" key or shift key at the same time or before pressing the monitor one as the buttons are dual function.

Get the wireless gadget..As long as your telly has a hdmi slot, and your laptops got a usb slot for the dongle, it`ll work fine.
