We DEFINITELY don't need another striker...

Mon Jan 02, 2012 11:50 pm

In my opinion :ayatollah:

If we play 4-5-1 then Miller is clearly our first choice and a top class player, we then have Mason as cover and his runs and the way he opens up space for our midfield to run into is outstanding

i really can't praise Mason high enough, the boy already is a quality striker :ayatollah:

if we play 4-4-2 like today (which after watching the way Mason played just behind Miller and the way they worked together) is now my preferred formation personally, we have the 2 strikers mentioned and also Rudy and Earnie as more than adequate cover :ayatollah:

they are both 2 very different types of player clearly, one is a target man and one is a poacher, but both can be dangerous on their day and give us different options to change a game from the bench or even starting if selected :ayatollah:

for these reasons, i really believe that we don't need another striker... in fact i think it will just lead to Mason playing less and that's something i really dont wan't to happen

i do agree that we need 1 or maybe 2 wingers though to provide competition, hopefully someone with pace, Adam Hammill would be my ideal choice but im not sure if he'd be available, he actually started for Wolves today and seemed to play pretty well

have to end by saying that more so than any other game this season, i'm so proud of the boys after today, i genuinely thought it would be tough today and Reading might have sneaked a win but im so glad to be proved wrong and it was a fantastic performance :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I'd like to see another striker myself and a wide player to mix things up.

the thing is miller can play a vital role as supporting striker, his vision is good and he gets around the pitch and drops back,

considering he was playing deep at times perhaps malky already realises this

4-4-1-1
we got a small squad and towards the end of the season will be tough

When he played behind earnie he was awful, not sure if that was down to hit fitness or position

A new striker to add to the squad is the number 1 choice for me,and then a wide man ...if we only had 2 positions to add to.

Any team who wants to go up needs a strong squad to allow for injurys and suspensions...which will happen to all teams.

( IMO ) We need another 3-5 players to add to the squad with the same going the other way :ayatollah:

I hope we lose the likes of Keinan, gypes, Taiwo and Parkin even if no one comes in, these guys won't play.

As I said in another thread, bring in atleast 3 young hungry players like Mason, but as cover, then we will be fine. I honestly believe that. Cause we can build to the future as well as making progress. :ayatollah:

i do see your point TopCat but i honestly believe that the 4 strikers we have is enough to see us through and that we are far shorter in the wide midfield area :ayatollah:

i just hate the thought of Mason getting less game time, and i really believe the 4 we have do have enough quality between them to take us up :ayatollah:

i personally think that Miller should definitely be the main striker and focal point of our attacking, with Mason making the runs from deeper and opening up space, exactly like the first half today :ayatollah: it worked perfectly :ayatollah:

I think a pacey striker would give us a different option up front and make a difference to our squad.

Some of the balls played from midfield into Mason and Miller today were excellent. Can you imagine someone with pace running onto those balls? You know for a fact Whittingham, Gunnarson and Cowie would pick them out!

Yep!

I'd personally worry if we didnt get one more experienced striker in, as cover for
Kenny. He is key up there.

Width? Conway has been struggling for weeks with an injury and given proper rest
may come back buzzing. He's had a hard time of late, as Malky says, the lad has
played even though he hasnt really been fit. So hats off to him. But perhaps something
else out wide, more of a goal threat?

Thats all we need in my opinion

We certainly have two special talents in Mason and Ralls :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

well its obviously not 100% what is being banded about, but i cant see him being on any less than 10k and for someone who doesnt make the bench thats too much!

whether he gets another one is a different question
