My son has been given a Subbutteo set by my brother today for Christmas, I didn't realise that you unable to buy this in the shops anymore he had to buy it on E bay it's an old version released in 1987/88.
This brings back some old memories of when we were young and would play non stop
Can't wait to play it in the morning, god I feel like a youngster again.

They is a similar game which was on the shops a couple of years ago which you pressed the player to kick the ball.

I think I know the one that you mean! When I was I kid I had thd full set, but as time hadd gone by and a few moves later, I have lost the entire set.
My brother mentioned earlier that to get the most recent Cardiff City team they wanted £40.
I'm thinking my son is going to kick my ass at this.

I had this old camping table and with shoe boxes made a stadium with them. I laid my subbuteo mat on the table, stapled it down then placed the prefabbed shoe boxes around the table. It made for a great stadium.
I joined my village subbuteo league and played in it for a couple of season both times finishing bottom. Remember those plastic toy solders? Well everytime I had a home game I would use them as the crowd. The other guys in the village league did not like this set up and took the piss out of me for both seasons. I was kicked out after finishing bottom for the second time and they used that as an excuse to get rid of me. Personally I think it was my toy soldiers that they did not like.

had a league going a good 15 years ago, i was always useless but it was a good laugh, some of the kids would take it well serious and cry if they lost
i sold all my stuff a couple of years ago and got good money for it. problem now is its hard to find replacement parts at a good price because they are so rare - i used to break the figures on a regular basis!
also to whoever mentioned beatties - great call! that shop was the business when i was a youngster, so much going on in there!!!

wow.. it is so nice to reminisce the old times..

specially the things we do as a fan of football..
Our toys before are now gone in the shops and to acquire such toys again we need to buy it for a high price but the joys it brings worth it

The good old times! Folks still have mine in their loft, pitch was mounted on to a piece of wood, bought lots of add-ons, yet only ever bought 2 extra teams - Liverpool (away) & York City (home)!
