Are we losing our passion

Wed Dec 28, 2011 4:46 pm

A serious question here and not trying to take a dig at us city fans but understand if it may come across like that but not meant to
I have a number of friends who support a number of clubs we play against on a regular basis and on a number of occasions have mentioned how disappointed and surprised they have been with the lack of noise city fans have made home and away With the exception of Reading fan who thought we were great up there over the last few years
I really thought we were quite at Watford and made that comment on an earlier post but something really does seem to be lacking in recent years We seem to think we are noisy but my mates are telling us that we are not I would like to think they are wrong but I have notices our chanting and support of the team seems to be way off what it use to be
the CCS may be a factor for the home support but what about they away support

ill admit im losing my love of football. i fell in love with city coz of the atmosphere at ninian when i first started going down but it just seems too much hassle anymore with the possibility of getting banned for minor things. im enjoying the trance scene alot more and last season i wouldnt miss a city game home or away unless i really had to which meant i did 23 away games and only missed one home game but this season im picking and choosing what games i go to depending on what gigs are going on. the games and the stewards down the ccs arent helping either.

new manager honeymoon period now small squad maybe the players are starting to rift or clash, there are a couple of big ego's on the pitch, who knows!!

were having a bad spell and at times like this we need to be stronger and get the sports psycologist to mind f**k them into MEN

Don't think I could disagree more with any post ever made. Overall we are in great form and players still working away. To discredit them like that I'd a disgrace IMO.

Iv been the same the past few seasons, been a Season Tickets holder on numerous occasions but was also playing football on a Saturday aswell so had to give it up.The last few years though I was picking and choosing games as I am massive House and Trance fan and was spending my money there.

Overall Ninian Park had a better atmosphere than CCS but it is a myth that it was brilliant for every game.

You could argue that the atmosphere at NP took a dip from the time seats were installed in the Bob Bank.

I understand the argument about safe standing, but it is still possible to create an excellent atmosphere if there is a will to do so. The problem ATM is we are too wrapped up in the dispute over standing to concentrate wholly on getting behind the team.

The fault for that lay with both sides and it is such a shame that they can't get together with the SAG to sort this nonsense out once and for all.

Again i find myself agreeing with 2blue,bad spell ? egos ? i really dont see either,Ive been to all away matches and apart from the obvious bullshit at leeds and the police bullying a young lad at hull, the authorities have been fine. The only thing im slightly disappointed at is the lack of ticket sales for palace away although theres many contributing factors and id never get on peoples backs about it

i don't get this. if you go to the game and behave like 99.9% of the crowd do, you have zero chance of getting banned
unless you are an arsehole and cant control yourself of course?

Footballs not what it used to be its full of over acting diving players and its all about the money if they put the effort in on the pitch or not i lost passion for the game in general years ago, even stadiums are shit these days with the "SIT DOWN" policy,Ive been losing more and more as the years go by :ayatollah:

One of the things that keeps all supporters shouting is new songs it sing. You will see with most other clubs as soon as they get a new player that makes an impact in the team , along comes a song for him.
The problem we have is that our fans still sing old song over and over again, cos there so bloody lazy to learn new ones.
Take MOH its a great song and as soon as we go a goal down we should all be singing it at the top of our lungs. The words are great and really inspiring WELSHMEN NEVER YEILD !
But it our case Welshmen cant be bothered.

There is a lot of truth in that post.

Why other clubs can introduce brilliant new songs and we can't is an absolute mystery, especially as we are supposed to be the land of song.

No, we're not. :ayatollah: Cheer up you miserable lot :ayatollah: Saw my first CCFC game in 1968. Times change, the game changes, but we are still Cardiff City. We are just as passionate as ever, but things are different now. Better? Worse? You decide, but make the best of it, make some noise at the games, instead of feeling sorry for yourselves on here. In the late 80s in the old Division 4, we used to get 2000 crowds at Ninian Park. Was that better than now? When I was 15, older blokes used to moan that football was 'not the same as it used to be'. Nothing new under the sun 8-) Looking forward to each and every game. If you don't like football, then fair enough, but stop trying to demoralise the rest of us. There never was a golden age. Just enjoy following the Bluebirds :ayatollah: and cheer up :D

You can sing that down the CCS.....when the Egg chasers are at home.

Football as I know and love is long gone.

The problem with our fanbase, believe it or not, is that many thousands of them support another team (I don't mean follow, I mean they have an active passion for them). The massive increase we have had in support hasn't come from nowhere - it has come from Welsh football fans of premiership teams who now now believe CCFC to be worthy of their support since we are now a consistent championship team with a fighting chance of promotion to 'the big time' next season.

Regardless whether the team is Manure, or Arsenal, or indeed Liverpool, I can't see how anyone can be 100% behind our club when they have perhaps 'hedged their bets' with a Premiership team as well.
