The whole thing is farcical to be honest. I know a bloke who got a 3 year ban recently for using a "racial term" in a private discussion with someone and got a 3 year ban - why isn't Suaraez being dragged through the courts and banned for 3 years?

Theres an article on the BBC website about how this terminology is accepted and not deemed offensive in Uruguay even to black players, Uruguay was the first nation to have black players in their national team which was about 60 years before Viv Anderson played for england. Patrice Evra even stated that he did not think Suarez was racist but he complained about the comments being made.

Dont forget that over here amongst white people we deem paki to be an abbreviation of a pakistani but they find that term offensive. Does that mean that anyone who has referred to a pakistani as a paki is racist or have they not been made aware of this cultural difference?

You mention racist or culturally naive I think racist I base this on the fact that this is a guy who has played in Europe for 4 years and I am sure any one of us who had been in another environment would have picked up a few things especially things that are offensive
if I spent four years in an arabic country I am sure I would pick up what is deemed to be offensive and what is not. he has also played in a world cup in South Africa and I am sure every player would be aware of the issues in that country and as far as I am aware most international football organisations will advise there staff and players of each countries customs so that no offence is caused unintentionally
