orite lads, im only 20 and world politics is a distant thought from my mind always, but north korea has always facinated me, with their "fu*k it, lets just bomb these fuc*ers" attitude, me and some mates where talking about the appointment of Kim Jong-Un's appointment, because after reading some online stuff, he seems to be a boy crazed on power, he is sending videos to the military of his desire for more power and control, and when your young, you want the world, and at the moment, there is no greater military force than N.Korea, with the 3/2nd largest armed forces in the world, their vast array of neuclear weapons and the amount of money they spend on military. now, during our conversation we were talking about how weak S.Korea are in comparison, and how we all thought in the next few years, Jong-Un will try and attack it/invade. america has said if N.Korea attempt any assault on the south they will defend the south and attack the north, china, russia who lets face it, all still hold grudges against the US would back N.Korea, not publically but would back them, finacially and military wise, and with us, the dog on the leash of america would be dragged into this war. it could become a deadly and devestating war.
what are your thoughts guys ?

I think you need to go to bed and not worry your pretty head.
Nah, in all seriousness, the one concern is that analysts of the area said that whenever North Korea experiences a period of stability it always ignites something abroad to take attention away from its domestic issues. That is why the whole region is shitting itself because they think North Korea will start a conflict to paper over the cracks that the transition from Kim Jong-Il to Kim Jong-Un will cause.
I am sadistically quite intrigued by it all. I don't know much about the son but if he's anything like his dad he'll be a f*cking nut case. I think if it came down to it and North Korea launched an unprovoked attack on South Korea then even the Chinese and Russians wouldn't condone it and given it's a new leader, political relations might take a blow.
We will see though. I wouldn't be surprised if they just kept themselves to themselves for a few more years, showed Kim Jong-Un the ropes and then started giving it the big one when they are better prepared. No offence to the lad but given his experience, no matter what size or strength of the forces he has, he will get absolutely ass raped on the international stage if he comes out and starts kicking off.

Far from a vast array of nuclear weapons, there is no actual certainty that North Korea actually has a fully working nuclear bomb. Altought they have carried out some nuclear tests to varying degrees of success, the only vague estimates from those that believe they may possess actual nuclera bombs varies between 1 and 12.
Also I believe that, although China's is the closest North Korea have to an ally, thier main concern will it's political stability.

North Korea wouldn't invade the South unless it had the backing of China and that support has to be extremely doubtful. China is a world away from the country that backed N Korea in the civil war back in the 1950's.
China is now a major exporter and wouldn't want to upset its major trading partners which include the US & Europe by helping to kill troops from those regions.
Also N Korea's nuclear bombs are no bigger than the ones which were used against Japan in the Second World War, so they would be considered as no more than hand grenades compared to America's nuclear Arsenal.
Then there is the delivery problem. N Korea tested missiles last year but they weren't exactly successful, so whilst they may have crude nuclear weapons they have no way of delivering them accurately (think SCUDS from the gulf war)
As for their army, even with the help of thousands of Chinese troops they couldn't defeat 500 Glorious Gloucester’s in the civil war, so again they might have the numbers but they certainly haven't got the quality.

I've heard that to mark Kim-Jong-ill passing, North Korea are to hold a 50 year silence.

Apparently in N Korea you can be put in prison for the crimes committed by your Grandfather

i do feel china will play the innocent game, publically to the world will say "WE CONDEM N.KOREA AND WILL LOOK TO CUT ALL TRADE LINKS" however i do firmly believe in secret will help with supplies and funding, because china cannot cope with losing N.Korea as a ally, with trade links, and cannot lose its trade with the western world.

Whats your favourite chinky in Merthyr?
Toss-up between Jen Changs and Hang Sings for me. Golden Valley is decent.

Tony, did you get that from the Mail or from the Sun?
Appanrently in the US you can be locked away for years and tortured on a regular basis without even being charged with anything at all. Apparently the same happens in this country but we send our suspects, without any evidence whatsoever, to Morocco to get locked away and tortured for years on end, so that we can hide them away better.
I wonder if people get shot and knifed on the streets of North Korea simply because they have the wrong skin colour?
In North Korea you get battered by police with batterns if you riot. In this country you just need to go to a footie match.

Berwyn I cancelled my copies of the Mail and Sun after the comments they made about Mikey Dye. I got my info off Sky News if that's relevant.
I understand your concerns about the practises which happen because of the fight against terrorism. Torture is a terrible thing, but there again so is exploding bombs on tube trains or flying airplanes into buildings.
Whilst I'm not comfortable with the way the Government has acted, I have to admit I do feel safer knowing that the security services are doing everything they can to keep us safe. If that means the odd terrorist or foreign national suffers a bit of water boarding then sorry better them than us.
