Hard to judge whether it's harsh, as I can't remember anybody else getting banned for the same offence, to be able to measure his punishment! :ayatollah:

But I bet Evra (or whoever he was being rascist to) was damaged emotionally.

How is any bad news for Suarez good news for football? :?

Apart from Aguero possibly, he's got to be about the most exciting forward in the Premier League and most other leagues I can think of!

He certainly deserves a harsh punishment for his offence, but I can't see that other than sending out a warning to other players, that it's good for football!

I've still not forgiven him for the 2010 world cup for what he did to Ghana.

Re: Suarez Found Guilty!

Suarez called patrice evra a "negro" in the 6yd box when waiting for a corner, apparently no-one else heard it but the fa have banned him anyway. LFC can appeal and the ban wont come into effect until the appeal is heard, but the ban could increase to anything up to 20 matches

copy of LFC statement:

"We find it extraordinary that Luis can be found guilty on the word of Patrice Evra alone when no-one else on the field of play - including Evra's own Manchester United teammates and all the match officials - heard the alleged conversation between the two players in a crowded Kop goalmouth while a corner kick was about to be taken."

Must be more evidence than Evra V Suarez??

Wonder what terry will get then?? Or is he ok because he is England captain?

Terry didnt do anything wrong. He was accused on the field of play of calling Anton a "black c**t" then the cameras picked up terry responding with "i called him a blind c**t not a black c**t"

terry will get away with no more then a 3 match ban because he's english. suarez got punished much worse because he's not, now thats f*cking racist of the FA.

agree.. the fa had no evidence against suarez . they were determined to ban him from the start... not one utd team mate of evra came forward to back up his claim.. surely they cannot go on the word of one against the other without proof...

terry must face the same punishement or the fa are one big fat joke...

Re: Suarez Found Guilty!

I personally think it's a joke to be onest, if it was any other team than the Manky Mob then it wouldn't have been listened to as there is no evidence. There are dozens of cameras at each football match these days, not one of them picked it up, none of the Liverpool team or Man U team heard anything, I cannot see how the FA have any justification for this ban as the evidence is circumstantial at best. I wouldn't be surprised if the ban is upheld after appeal if this is not taken to the courts.

As for Terry, the fact that the police were involved, that a case has been put together shows there's more than just "smoke without fire". He won't get the same treatment despite the fact he quite clearly, in full view of the Sky cameras used the words "black c**t" no matter in what context it is used is wrong. Blind and Black do not sound anything alike.

Just my opinion.

Agreed I have watched that video several times and Terry definatley says 'Anton, Anton you are a blind c**t'

I will be very interested to read the written reason why the FA have found Suarez guilty.

Re: Suarez Found Guilty!

I wish people would read up all the facts before spouting shite, Terry did use the phrase black c**t. Only in the context of "i called him a blind c**t not a black c**t"

As for LFC statement, they say no-one heard what suarez said, yet further down they claim in uruguay what he said isnt deemed as racist.....So which is it, he either said nothing, or said something.

People should not let their dis-like for teams cloud the subject, Evra himself said in his statement he believes Suarez is not a racist, but used a racist comment........he might not have known it was racist, but that's his and LFC's fault for not intergrating him in the culture properly, after all, he is plying his trade in the UK and not Uruguay.

Talks of John Terry being looked at more favourably due to him being English, are ridiculously premature!

The Crown Prosecution Service are due to announce their decision this afternoon, as to whether he will be charged or not!

The FA will then decide whether they will look to take action against him as well!

Re: Suarez Found Guilty!

All thats been said above is neither here nor there, the fact of the matter is that the FA has made their decision on the words of Evra alone? which is shocking if you ask me, how can you possibly make such a harsh sentencing on a racially abusive assault with a substantial lack of evidence? Either way, If he IS guilty then he deserves it, but If he isn't guilty then Evra should have the punishment turned on him for accusing someone of racism when clearly they may not have been?

Good point.

I do think though that the ban is justice for all the diving that Suarez does. No room in football for cheats.

Come on Ga! They are all at it, half the managers tell them to take a dive if it results in a goal scoring opportunity, as much as its against the good will of the game, It's something that plays a big part of the amount of goals scored in that division. I would hope that reason you stated wouldn't have crossed the mind of the panel on the FA seeing as most of the league are at it, and usually ends up being a decent part of the british game from a fans point of view!

Suarez hasn't been found guilty on Evra's evidence alone though, as he admitted using certain words, stating that they were the norm in his country!

His defence appears to be that as it is okay to use such language in Uruguay, that he didn't realise such language would cause offence in this country!

As he's played in Europe for several seasons now, I can't see how he can use this as a defence!

Do you know how long Evra has been in this country! I'm pretty sure his English is spot on, and the word Negro (which is actually the Spanish/Portuguese word for Black) is very similar in most European countries, and is not hard to understand.
