Who can blame him for leaving at the end of his contract. He knew the quality he had and showed it here, but kept getting pulled off after 70 minutes even though there were players on the pitch playing worst than him. It's nice to see him getting game time now under his belt before it's to late in his career.

Yes I was a Burke fan and I believe Malky would of got the best out of him.

Burke commented not long ago that he felt a lot better being allowed to play for 90 minutes. That answered some of my questions from last season.

I really questioned why DJ insisted on bringing Burke off for some games when there were quite a few other players who should have been substituted. I would go to say that one or two games Bothroyd should have been substituted instead of Burke.

At the end of season awards he seemed very keen to stay anyway irrespective of who was in charge.

Early last season I thought Burke and Bothroyd combined brilliantly. It was a total mystery to me why Jones then went out and signed JET on loan to replace Burke.

I thought for the last couple of seasons Burke was pretty poor for us and glad he went tbh. Gutted that Ross went and wasn't happy with the way Jones didn't give Matthews much of a chance

I watched an interview with Chris Burke on Sky the other week and he said when we failed to get promotion he suspected that big changes would happen.

He also said that he felt it was time to move on becausefrom a personal perspective he was fed up with being subbed after 70 minutes week in week out. He felt he was the player most likely to be dropped and he just wanted to try and get regular football where he could play a full 90 minutes.

Remember when Bellamy arrived Chris Burke was the player dropped for his first game against Doncaster, he came on when Chops got injured and scored a couple. He then went on a run of regular games until Chops returned then he was in and out. Who will ever forget DJ dropping him for the Jacks at home, even the Jacks couldn't believe it.

Then of course he was in and out of the tean after DJ signed JET that was probably the final straw for Chris Burke. It is interesting that he is a regular for Birmingham under Houghton even though I have no doubt he signed for Birmingham because of McLeish his ex boss at Rangers.

I wonder how CB felt went McLeish walked about a week after he signed.

Towards the end of the season especially, burkes form had really dipped, chris knew bellamy and co would be probably leaving in the summer but didnt hesitate for a second when brum came in for him
wish him all the best though and most definetly he would have been a massive player for us under MM

Ian, I could not understand either, why Burke was in and out and not given time in his last few months.

Sad to hear that Annis, on his day he was really good and with MM now with us and the way MM has brought out the best in the players Im sure he would have done the same with him. Same we will never know, thank you Dave Jones

Explains why he couldnt wait to do the the other week in our home game against Birmingham

Also I think that Dave Jones man management skills are probably one of the poorest in football I have seen for a long time. I am pleased with how DJ brought our club forward, and belief back to the fans, But as we are well aware, the way he expresses himself to the public, and his staff was little short of terrible.

i agree, there are many players that you can take an example of this from!
