Cardiff Support

Sun Dec 18, 2011 3:29 pm

Are Cardiff the only city in the UK wherby they have more supporters from outside the City than actually from the City itself?

Personally, for a City of Cardiffs size the support from actually within the City is piss poor.

I would still think the likes of United and Liverpool have more ST holders from within the city.

Obviously plenty more plastics but im talking people who actually go to the games.

Wasn't a recent poll saying that it was 60/40 in favour of support from outside of Cardiff..?

55/45 in favour of outside I have read before.

For United the STs within the City are City and for Liverpool it is Everton.

Agreed! The areas surrounding the ground are all multi nationals and couldnt care less about the City.

I can't answer for the new stadium but at Ninian Park the biggest chunk came from Rhondda Cynon Taff. Working from memory they had around 35%, whereas Cardiff had around 25%.

Someone at the club agrued that the vast majority of fans, came from Cardiff. However he based this on post codes, saying that 95% of Cardiff fans have a CF post code. Yes they do, but Merthyr has a CF post code, so does Bargoed and everywhere else around us. Of course these places are not in Cardiff but do have a CF post code and yes it makes up 95%. Only 5% live outside of a CF post code.

Area wise Cardiff is very poor by head of population. You are looking at less than 1% of the population of Cardiff are fans. Compare that to RCT where more than 10% of the population are Cardiff fans.

The other interesting stas relate to age of fan. Last off you could see a clear pattern where when the club was winning the 18-25 numbers went up and nose dived when the team were losing. The 18-25's age range is very fickle. On the other hand if you are 40-50 then you'll watch any old shit. There is hardly any move in their numbers when the team are winning or losing. They just keep coming.

Labour's open door policy is even effecting the support of our football club

Yes you are right and I blamed Labour too. However I think the numbers are just as bad under the Tory's, if not worse. They are just better at getting their Tory press to not report it. It's nice though to know that The Daily Mail still has people beleiving the shit they write.
