Cardiff to bid for Billy Sharp...

Sun Dec 18, 2011 1:58 pm

Not sure if anyone's posted about it yet but today's Mirror is reporting that Billy Sharp has a £1.75m release clause in his contract and that Cardiff, Southampton, Burnley and Ipswich will battle to sign him.

Would LOVE to see him here :ayatollah:

Not sure who i'd prefer out of him or Jordan Rhodes, who scored 4 yesterday!! Think he would cost alot more than £1.75m though, probably nearer to £5m.

To be honest unless we are looking at changing the formation then I don't think there's much of a need to get another 'small' striker in.

im pretty sure even if he was the lone striker, which he has sometimes played for Doncaster, he would still bang in 20 goals a season for us!

i actually dont think the size of the lone striker matters, look at Kenny Miller, we just need someone that works hard (which Sharp does), and scores goals (which Sharp does) so i personally think it would be a great signing :ayatollah:

We don't need him when we got Kenny Miller IMO. What I need is a big striker for when we need to change things. 'Some' would say that we have Rudy but he's still too raw for me.

i do agree with everything you say there to be fair, because i'm 100% happy with Kenny Miller and i think hes perfect for the role

all i would say is that at £1.75m it would be hard to turn down a striker of Billy Sharp's quality because he is worth way more than that, and he does guarantee you goals, without doubt! so it's a tough one, at the worst he would be competiting with Miller and Mason for that starting role :ayatollah:

Agree with Midfield on this one. Rudy looked out of his depth yesterday when he came on.

I wouldn't be altogether that surprised if Blake is on the way out for a few million. He's clearly not in Malky's plans but I'm sure some lower end premier league sides would like him since he's shown he can mark Rooney out of a game.

where was he seen mate, and at what time?

Re: Cardiff to bid for Billy Sharp...

late evening onwards with his mrs at an event we had on in town. was positive it was him but i was completely baffled why he'd be in cardiff at an event with the rest of the cardiff team present. makes sense now! im not saying hes signing for us, i assumed he was either just trying something different or had been invited by one of the cardiff lads, the whole shrewsbury team was there as well.

would have thought we would also have to agree a fee with doncaster first before we could start talking to a player..

as you say maybe he was just down for an event ???

Not being harsh but be good if we could offload Earnie and bring him in :!:
Earnie is getting paid and he ent even coming off the bench and i dont think we need him, would love to see him used off the bench but if hes slugging around in training and doing nothing which i heard from a mate who was down the Vale then get rid!
We need 2 small strikers and 2 tall!
Miller, Sharp, Gestede, Cox/Rhodes that be class if we had them 4 either Rhodes or Cox! :ayatollah:

I think he would be a good signing but, on a personal level, would he want to uproot his family at this time?

Would love to see him here, but their chairman has said he's available for 3 million.can't see us paying that.

Seems they've upped the release clause.

They cant just change his contract to 3 mill so it must have been reported wrong that it was 1.75mill.We dont have that sort of money to get him shame as hes a very good player with plenty of heart (Malkys type ).

I heard about this too on some blog but I can't see Doncaster asking for less than £3 million to be honest
