Win, lose, or draw...

Sat Dec 17, 2011 5:09 pm

I love how this team plays. The sum is greater than its parts and everybody puts in total effort each time out. What a stark contrast to what we have seen in recent years. Last year I was left wanting more, even after close wins. This year I'm not so disappointed with a loss because I know the team gave their all. Today the breaks didn't fall in our favor, but what we saw was a great game and a great effort. This game could have easily have gone in our favor but for a change, it wasn't for lack of trying.

difficult game today against at the moment the toughest team we have had.

We can bounce this around with a victory over watford...

gutting to lose , but lets not be to down beat.. we have had a great run and are capable of doing it again...

Agreed that this team will bounce back. Waiting for the other shoe to drop and the players to get burned out though. Amazed that they are still able to work as hard as they do having played with so few breaks. Cowie and Conway especially must be tired. Good to see Rudy back today as he can spell quite a few positions.

I'm sold on Malkay's "Dossier" method of signing players. It is clear that he has gone for mentally strong, hard working, never say die players (e.g. Gunnarsson, Cowie, Conway, Gestede etc.). He knows who he wants and if they will fit in before signing them...a refreshing, and seemingly effective approach.

As a working man who regularly works 50 hours or more in a week I can't understand the philosophy of professional sportsmen getting tired by playing 2x 90 min games every 7 days. How long do they train for and how many days per week? They get the right nutritional food and supplements, the medical staff look after their every need and they have plenty of time to relax and get sufficient rest, so much so that certain players we're all familiar with have spent hours and hours in casino's and betting shops. Working in a physical job (construction or warehouse work etc) is very tiring and doing it for 40 hours or more a week does wear you out..but playing football?? :o . I regularly did a 12 hour shift..7am-7.15pm in a warehouse then come home quick change and down the gym for 2 hours or so till about 10 oclock then back home a bite to eat up to bed then up at 6am and another 12 hour shift, didn't tire me out made me more alert and stronger and made me feel fit and strong and I was 48 at the time.
Agree totally with you on the malky method of checking out a players background before making a bid for them though. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
