I know of at least one player that Malky Mackay wanted to bring in during the summer transfer window and his request was rebuffed by the board and I know that Malky was not entirely happy.
That is not saying he has not been backed but it tells me that he has not been backed 100%.
I hope that our current board do not think that we are in a great position and think why should we folk out anymore.
For me the manager is saying it publicly for a reason, I think Malky should be talking about how he is looking forward to bringing players in and not saying that we would have to be 'unbelievably lucky' to get promoted if we don't strengthen

Sorry Carl disagree with you. MM I think is being honest and he is correct if we get unlucky with injuries it will affect our challenge, also I think it is a nudge towards the owners I need players to back up our current squad.![]()

I don't think he needs to make demands of the owners through the media - he has other places to discuss budgets and transfer targets.
He is right to say the squad is good but hasn't enough depth to cope with injuries or suspensions - and would need a lot of luck to avoid them. I doubt TG or Vincent Tan have a different opinion.
I expect Malky and the Board to try to bring in 2-3 more players during the window - and I am sure the list of targets has been in place for a while.
- And i think the first step was to put 5-6 players out on loan the last few weeks, saving on money, along with the Cup run which will bring in more money..So there is money here before VT puts in a little bit extra Sat Dec 17, 2011 8:59 am

That is absolute bull that I consistently knock the Malaysians. I have never downed the Malaysians i have only ever been thankful to them for paying off the taxman and consequently stopped this club from going under.
I have every right, the same as everyone else has, to question a statement that is made by a member of our club, whether that be the manager, chairman or the tea lady.
In my opinion Malky Mackay is speaking in the press about the need for new players, he is not saying I will be bringing in new players.
And finally how does my post equal a craving for the return of Sam Hammam?

Agreed.
Is Malky being backed? Of course he is!
The only bone of contention is that most of us want Tan to open his cheque book and
splash the cash a bit more. But thats natural. Malky has his budget, and i just
dont think Tan will let him overspend. However, the Man Utd players who we were
allegedly close to signing would have been big earners, so lets not start thinking Malky
aint got a pot to piss in, hes got money. We just want him to have more, course we do.
But not at the expense of fiscal common sense
We need to think back a bit here lads
We were complaining cos they never sacked Jones - then he got sacked
We were complaining that we were dragging our feet over a new manager - we got Malky
We were complaining that the pitch needed grow lights - we got grow lights
We were complaining that they weren't doing enough re: the debt - then they tied PMG up with shares
AND booted the 'PMG' puppet out the Club.
Everything they have done since coming here has been positive, this Club bears no resemblance to
the shattered mess of 18 months ago.

amazing how negative this board gets on time we are not even in the january window yet and people are speculating about the malaysians not backing malky despite the fact he has publicly stated he knows his budget for January.
Carl says malky was not happy because he missed out on one player during the summer window but what manager gets every player he wants and gets 100% of their projected targets ask fergie he wanted sneijder but was not sanctioned the ridiculous wage demands.
The malaysians backed malky in the loan window to bring in a quality premier league player but it was the player who rebuffed the move so what can the malaysians do about that.
as you say dave people just pick the bits of interviews that suit their purpose to be negative and ignore the valid points you make above about the progress the club is making.
We have to appreciate that as well as backing malky the malaysians are paying off the historical debts to the local businesses who were owed monies from the stadium build and fit out.
there are certain elements on this board who would be quite happy if malky did not get what he wanted in january so that they could relish in their "told you so" moment and continue their anti malaysian stance.

Carl maybe i am wrong (i sincerely hope i am) but i and almost everyone i know (in the flesh) believe that sam hamman pulls the strings of a few prominent members of this board, i apologise if i'm wrong but as an outsider thats just the way it comes across.
When the malaysians took over and they were the best things since sliced bread, my mate said to me "it wont be long before people on this message board turn on them!"
i didnt believe it at the time but gradually i have seen a campaign building slowly that seems to be seeking to undermine our owners.
First of all you see posts like, did the malaysians really save us???
well considering we were on the brink of not administration but LIQUIDATION my answer would be 100% yes! (and remember we couldnt just start again like wimbledon did cos we would be out of the english pyramid so our biggest games would be neath away!!!!
Secondly, i am constantly reading midfield generals anti malaysian post from his inspiration daya!!
Thirdly, i see this constant suggestion that the board are not backing malky, but even if the malaysians did pump money in like leicesters owners there is no guarantee we would get promoted. And if we did miss out, then what??? Who is gonna subsidise the debt???
As malky said in the interview i posted above, what would you rather be run prudently or have no club?????
To me that is a massive question for those who want the malaysians to splash the cash but it seems to be a question that doesn't often get answered on here.
Like you and many others i would like to see an improvement in the atmosphere at the ground, but other than that i truly believe that as cardiff fans we have absolutely nothing to moan about at the moment.![]()

the board is speculating about malky not being backed in january despite both Tg and malky both confirming there is a budget available.
of course people can debate opinions but none of us can see what is going to happen in january.
the board could back malky to sign 4 players but as we have just seen if the player himself does not want to come then we cant blame the malaysians and say they havent backed malky.
i would admit that you are not your usual negative self where malky is concerned and i just hope you havent reached that age where dementia is setting in and one saturday you drive to the liberty instead and try to enter their ground with your card![]()

Steve, I remained consistent that Malky would have brought a player in the loan window, that did not happen for a number of reasons and it was not just the Man Utd player you were referring, though that certainly was true, do I believe Malky has a budget, of course I do.
But I will say it again, in my opinion, Malky is pressuring the board for more money and if he and his recruitment team recognise a player that will strengthen the squad then I believe his judgement should be backed on the evidence of the players he has brought in so far.

Firstly I will accept an apology as no-one pulls my strings. I say what I think and sometimes I will be wrong and if so I have admitted my mistakes.
Whether Gwyn Davies, Midfield General or anybody else has a view on everything from the colour of our grass to the running of the club then that is their right to have an opinion, I just don't like the fact that I get categorised in many different 'agendas' ie. Anti-Gethin, Anti-Malaysian, Anti-the club, when all those things are so far from the truth. I speak with TG regularly, I met with Gethin on many occasions including during his first week in the job and his last week there plus many times in between, I meet with officials from the club on a regular basis and the club are happy to meet me, I have never had a situation where anyone in the club from chairman to stadium manager to ticket office have fallen out with me but many people push an agenda that I am somehow against the good of our club.
I was warned some time ago that the more known or prominent you become the less of an opinion you will be allowed to have, that seems to be the case today, it appears that it is not so much the substance of a post or writing that is debated rather who it is that has said or written it and that is a damning indictment on those who carry on with their 'lies' to make others believe that I have an agenda to bring Sam back or get rid of the Malaysians etc.
Perhaps all those who kept their campaign claiming we were anti-Gethin want to look back and see if there was celebrating or rejoicing when Gethin was sacked, because they would certainly not find anything of the sort from myself. It just makes those accusers look foolish in my opinion.
I am tired of all the nonsense being peddled because I have an opinion on what I read or hear, I believe what my eyes tell me and not what people want me to believe.

carl
i never mentioned any reference to a man utd player but i do not believe malky is publicly putting pressure on the malaysians at all because he is not that way inclined and has also had his meetings where he knows the extent of his budget and how far the malaysians are prepared to extend that budget if the right players become available.
what i believe malky is saying is yes he does need to bring a few quality players in to bolster the squad especially as injuries and suspensions kick in but he will not do it at the expense of over extending the clubs finances it purely depends on which interview you want to pluck points out of.
Personally for me a play off place would be a bonus but if that does not happen then i think we should be quite happy for malky to bring in 5 or 6 players in the summer which would make this already talented squad stronger and give us a more realistic hope of getting promoted after all next year is the 3rd year in the projected 3 year plan to reach the premier league touted by the malaysians when they bought into the club.
Do you not agree people are beginning to take the malaysians for granted a bit now considering the mess we were in 18 months ago.
all the points dave raises above are being conveniently overlooked and i still believe there are elements here who would be more satisfied than dissapointed if malky does not get what he wants in the january window
