As someone who doesn't have the right to strike I am totally in favour of striking. Without it you can be put over a barrel and have your arse raped. However I do not agree with some of the methods used when striking. I remember when the union at Heathrow said "we are going to strike one day over the bank holiday weekend but not saying which day." Aye CF DLR is diferrent as it is relatively new. The main difference apart from the trains themselves is in the signal control systems the Jubilee line has the system but not the trains whereas it may not be economic to refit say the Northern Line although I believe they are now renewing the signal system, which or what type I know not.

I'm just trying to put a bit of balance rather than being obsessed with the left and in fairness this board is nowhere near the level of the other place. The original post was probably a bit a hasty as if this stike goes ahead then I'd find it difficult to get to Watford which is one of the few games I'll be able to see this season and should really have been directed at the horrible little c**t Crowe rather than the tube drivers. As it happens I have two mates who drive on the Northern Line, both tory's btw and whilst I haven't spoken to them for ages I do know a bit about the subject. Working on public holidays is part of their contract so payment is already built into their salaries, I forget exactly how it works but its something like they work 4 or 5 public holidays per year on a rota basis, they can also work the others if they want which then atracts extra payments. Basic wage for a driver on the Northern Line was 44k a year for a 35 hour week, probably more now but very few drivers get that as they have a whole range of other payments added on. I have no problem whatsoever with that and if they can earn extra for working an extra hour or two then fair play to them, its that shit stiring Crowe tw*t I can't stand.

I won't say what my mates earn as its their business but I can tell you it is way in excess of 44k and no I'm not jealous or envious as I'm very well paid for what I do.

Aled, no need for sarcasim, tube drivers are not treated like slaves they are adequately rewarded for their valuable contribution to society. As I note above I do have a couple of mates who drive tube trains and some of the tales they've told me over the years are quite shocking but they're both big lads who can handle themsleves, its certainly not a job I would like to do.

DLR is a completely different system to the Underground though, I'm not saying it couldn't happen but they'd need to spend billions to change it.
The Jubilee line is basically computer driven but they still need drivers to open and close the doors safely and in case the system messes up which it does often.

Aye CF DLR is diferrent as it is relatively new. The main difference apart from the trains themselves is in the signal control systems the Jubilee line has the system but not the trains whereas it may not be economic to refit say the Northern Line although I believe they are now renewing the signal system, which or what type I know not.

I'm just trying to put a bit of balance rather than being obsessed with the left and in fairness this board is nowhere near the level of the other place. The original post was probably a bit a hasty as if this stike goes ahead then I'd find it difficult to get to Watford which is one of the few games I'll be able to see this season and should really have been directed at the horrible little c**t Crowe rather than the tube drivers. As it happens I have two mates who drive on the Northern Line, both tory's btw and whilst I haven't spoken to them for ages I do know a bit about the subject. Working on public holidays is part of their contract so payment is already built into their salaries, I forget exactly how it works but its something like they work 4 or 5 public holidays per year on a rota basis, they can also work the others if they want which then atracts extra payments. Basic wage for a driver on the Northern Line was 44k a year for a 35 hour week, probably more now but very few drivers get that as they have a whole range of other payments added on. I have no problem whatsoever with that and if they can earn extra for working an extra hour or two then fair play to them, its that shit stiring Crowe tw*t I can't stand.

I won't say what my mates earn as its their business but I can tell you it is way in excess of 44k and no I'm not jealous or envious as I'm very well paid for what I do.

Aled, no need for sarcasim, tube drivers are not treated like slaves they are adequately rewarded for their valuable contribution to society. As I note above I do have a couple of mates who drive tube trains and some of the tales they've told me over the years are quite shocking but they're both big lads who can handle themsleves, its certainly not a job I would like to do.
