Anyone think we should actually learn the words to this? I know the lyrics to the Chorus which we chant to, but it would definitely sound a lot better if we sang it instead. Look at Liverpool with You'll Never Walk Alone, they know the words and it sounds amazing, so when we get them at Wembley I want us to out do them with Men Of Harlech.
I think someone else is already promoting this in their signature, 2blue2handle I think..
But anyway, enjoy:

Can't you see their spearpoints gleaming
See their warrior pennants streaming
To this battle field
Men of Harlech stand ye steady
It can not be ever said ye
For the battle were not ready
Welshmen never yield
From the hills rebounding
Let this war cry sounding
Summon all at Cambria's call
The mighty force surrounding
Men of Harlech on to glory
This will ever be your story
Keep these burning words before ye

Should have a cracking turn out for 'Boro so I think we should give it a go. Couple of people around me sing it as well but it never catches on, it needs to. I'll be singing it though

If we sang the words, it would sound unbelieveable, wish we could get it going. When it is played before kick off, it's only me and a few others who sing the actual words.
Our club need to do something about it so that all fans know the words.

Hopefully someone can get in touch about having it in a program or on the club website

I genuinly believe the reason we don't sing the words to this is that a lot of our fans that sing feel embarrassed to sing anything other than really short songs, even the longer ones are sung really quickly nowadays.
There needs to be a clever way of getting this going, we all seem to really want it, it wouls sound brilliant and be a real City anthem in years to come, just like Pick & Shovel is now except it will be more than 3 poxy lines, but no one has come up with a successful idea to get it off the ground. Surely the away fans have to really get it going, most of our new chants start at away games. Hopefully it will then transfer to CCS.
The only idea I have is to play it before every kick off with the words on the big screen, and the tv's under the stands. Eventually if it gets going they can take them down.

some of us know the words, but i do agree, and i wish that we played the whole version down the city

Would sound amazing if sung, but it's a struggle to get anything going at the moment!
Fri Dec 16, 2011 11:02 am
Totally agree, I always sing it and some on here say "thats a wrexham song" Wrexham ffs, they dont set the world alight do they! Get over it and be proud to sing this song and as Louis Walsh would say on x factor "you made that your own" come on city fans learn the words and sing loud and proud.

Would love to see this happen, only way it could tho is by stewards handin out the words on a laminated bit of paper or something, as people r goin to their seats

Originally wrexham did start singing it,but both us and you have taken it on,,I always sing the words When its sang here,,and many around me allso, but would sound great if every one sang it...as it would with you..
Every time I sing or here it I get goose bumps,,but f*cking hate it when they just hum some nois

Spot on fella, I always sing this but those around me just wont for whatever reason, they just hum it. As somebody said above, they should put it on the big screen or hand out leaflets with the words on it and get the whole place rockin'

it would sound awesome. Moving away from the club football for a second, I would love it if Swansea, Wrexham and Newport fans would learn the words too so at Wales games we could all sing it, can you imagine what it would sound like at an international match.

If it is ever going to work then I think we should do what Ali does and drop the first verse. So the song would then be
Men of Harlech stand ye steady
It can not be ever said ye
For the battle were not ready
Welshmen never yield
From the hills rebounding
Let this war cry sounding
Summon all at Cambria's call
The mighty force surrounding
Men of Harlech on to glory
This will ever be your story
Keep these burning words before ye
Welshmen will not yield
If that is still too complicated then Hum the tune but sing the "From the hills rebounding" bit with the clapping.

Trouble is there are a couple of different versions of the words to this great song and none are that easy to remember. We need someone to come up with a CCFC version....something simple but meaningful to our Club. Perhaps James Fox could do something. Then we need to get the Club to play the tune and put the words up on the big screen at the same time. It would be perfect for another Wembley trip. Job done!
I always feel totally embarrassed by our pathetic clapping to this great song.

Yeah we'd definitely have to drop out the first verse, people would just get confused when to sing the chorus.

Problem is a lot of fans aint got enough brain cells to learn it, they need to Dfrag so as to get more in
Fri Dec 16, 2011 7:03 pm
Marc you are spot on
It dosent take much to learn the words and TBH it would be hairs stand up on neck time.
