Top 5 players

Tue Dec 13, 2011 2:31 pm

we are nearing the half way point of the season and who does everyone think our top 5 players have been so far this seaso.

1. Whiittingham- Has been our best player imo runs the show most games, always a goal threat and has improved alot defensively.

2. miller- took a couple of games to get up to speed but he has become an important player for us with important goals, hastleing defenders and his movement is second to none.

3.Turner- after a long term injury and once he became match fit is one of macky's best signings. he is been a rock for us at the back and that hasn't changed even when his cb partners change. also has very good distrubution for a centre half. imo he has the potential to become a regular premiership center half.

4. mcnaughten- our player of the season last year is showing the same consistancy. always gives 110%. always putting his body on the line if needed and is getting foward with every oppurtuntiy to offer width down the right hand side. only critisism in distribution at times.

5. gunnarson- the dog in midfield we have been missing for a few seasons. for a free transfer he is a steal and still at a young age where he has the potencial to be a premiership regular (hopefully with us :D)

who are your top 5 players so far this season?

1. Whittingham - I can't emphisie enough how 100% important i think he is for this team, he could be the difference between us going up and mid-table this year because in the role he's playing now, controlling the game, he suits Malky's way of playing perfectly.

2. McNaughton - Still maintain that defensively there's not a better full-back in the country and he's certainly improving his attacking game too.

3. Cowie - Have we ever had a player here who works harder than Cowie does? I can't remember one

4. Miller - Vital goals, works so hard up front, and is a Premier League striker in my opinion. Can't believe anyone would question whether he's good enough or not!

5. Gunnarsson - Great engine, not afraid to get stuck in, and he's actually way more creative than i was expecting to be fair, sliding in Miller for a few goals and chances this season.

1) Whittingham
2) Whittingham
3) Whittingham
4) Whittingham
5) Whittingham

Without him we are fucked. Lets not kid ourselves otherwise.

Joe Mason deserves a special mention, come on a few games when the score was 0-0 and changed the game. Expecting big things from him 2nd half of the season.

At home he should be starting instead of Conway whilst we adapt a more attacking approach.

1. Whittingham - most naturally gifted and talented player in the division
2. Miller - one of the best big game players in britain
3. Gunnarson - the missing link in midfield the architect
4. Cowie - the fittest player in the league
5. Mason - shocked me thought he was going to be a league one player

defensively (not attackingly) i can't name a Premier League full-back who i think is a better defender than McNaughton no

i agree Walker, Richards, Johnson, Sagna and many others are better going forward yes

just my opinion

Have to agree with this bit!......I love what Mason does when he comes on dragging players out of position with his movement creating space for Miller to make runs!....I rate him highly and cant wait to see him progress more :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Mention deserves a mention as do many but he isn't top 5

1) Whittingham - The best player in the division. Whitts always had the quality, but he's improved the other parts of his game that used to let him down. One of the posters above says Whitts is the difference between us finishing mid table and getting promoted. I agree 100%. Personally, I wouldn't sell Whitts for 20 million in January, it doesn't matter how much money we sell him for, we will never be able to bring in anyone as good to replace him this season imo.

2) Turner - Our goals against column since he's arrived shows what a huge signing he has been. Dominant, commanding, powerful, no nonsense, a good turn of pace and a cultured left foot. The best centre back in the division imo.

3) Miller - His important goals aside, his all round game and what he brings to the team with his experience, plus his chances to goals conversion ratio, makes him a top striker and a superb signing for us.

4) Gunnarsson - The tenacious, gutsy, all action midfielder we have lacked for years with lots of quality on the ball too. Gets forward to create and has chipped in with a few goals already. Also, if you look at our results without Gunnarsson playing, it shows how vital he is for us.

5) Cowie - The fittest player I have ever seen in a City shirt. He's played every single second this season for us and the ground he covers and the positions he takes up goes unnoticed by many. We will never get overrun in the midfield this season with Gunnarsson and Cowie in there, battling workaholics with a never say die attitude. :ayatollah:

Not Strictly true. Rangel had Bellamy in his pocket for both matches last season, and has adapted very well to the PL.

I like Superkev, but dont think he is PL class. A good honest player, top end of the championshp.
