There is a debate ongoing at a home in Newport this evening and many phone calls have been made including international calls to try and settle the debate as to which of these well known stores is the most famous.

No question to answer here as Harrods is without doubt an upmarket department store with an international reputation for quality and service. Also it's food hall is second to none if it is a bit over the top price wise, I once paid £5 for a Cornish Pasty which was gone after two bites. Was nice though.

Macys is a mid range department store which specialises in stocking fashion brands bit like Debenhams.

In my opinion the difference between Harrods and Macys is about the same as Debenhams to Primark.

Almost all residents of the US will have heard of Macey's (they do have a few more people than the UK) but I doubt they have heard of Harrods.

Harrods has 13million pages.
Macey's has 88million pages.

Not proof of anything but a good indication.

Been to Macy's a few times in New York. I would say Macy's but Bloomingdales is probably the best known out of all

McDonald's IS IN Macy's.

Macy's is far bigger.

It's also super famous in the US which is far bigger than the UK.

Harrods is in one location in London. Macy's had hundreds of stores across the US.


I'm definately going with Macy's as you see it on TV and in Movies quite a lot.

macys also sponsor parades in every city that has a store at xmas time.. new york, boston to name but a few..

macys is massive, its known world wide.. harrods is well heard of in the uk and some of europe but not to the size of macys..
