Mackay: Plea for passion from players and staff


Manager Malky Mackay wants Cardiff City's players and staff to match the passion of the club's fans.

Mackay, who has led the Bluebirds on a seven-match unbeaten run in the Championship, is keen to make the Cardiff City Stadium a fearsome place for visiting teams to visit.

And he is trying to instil in his players a sense of pride in south Wales.

"We've got to shout from the rooftops about Cardiff City," he said. "It's something we've got to have at the training ground. You go up there and we've brought in photographs of players, of staff, of people round about the club, of badges and it's something we've got to be proud of and embrace.

"Down here (at the Cardiff City Stadium) as well, this is our fortress, this is our home and opposition walk out there and they've got to see our players staring at them from the walls when they're coming to play against us.

"It's important that there should be passion within the club as well as passion for the club from our fans."

This guy is Great, wants to put pride in the players about South Wales ! some of our so called Welsh fans should feel the same about there country . God Bless you Malky Cymru am byth.

1 hopefully but if it doesnt work out we'll be better prepared for next season. i just hope the fans can be patient if it doesnt happen and dont start getting on his case. you know how fickle football fans can be.

I think , NO I'm sure that most managers are happy to have success come knocking on there door.
But Malky aint going to wait around for it, he is doing everything he can to chase after it. We have a manager that really has the club and fans at heart, and he is doing all he can to make that bond between the fans and Players. Never do he hold an Interview without saying how much the fans play there part in each game. Also on match days when he is called on to do the he never lets us down , he does it them gives us the thumbs up. I can see in the future a lot of big clubs coming after him. But first he has a job to do here, and Im sure he will do that job before he looks at another Club.
