Should i buy an IPAD 2?? Ideas please

I am thinking of buying a IPAD 2 for Christmas, but i know sod all about anything thechnical these days.

just gonna buy the basic 16gb wifi model.

Should i carry on and buy it or does anyone recommend anything else.

I have seen and used the Ipad 2 and it seems fine but i have nothing to compare it with.

My daughter enjoys some of the apps and it seems to keep her quiet.

Any advice please computer Nerds?

I'm not a techno boy, but I have an iMac at home and I find it so easy to use.

I had a try on an iPad recently and I fell in love with it. We'll definitely be having at least one in our house pretty soon.

I've got one and although it is slick and nice to use there will be new one (iPad3) coming out early next year.

i'm gonna get one before christmas as i have the funds to do it. I hate waiting for things plus the price may be more than the ipad 2.

I've seen one for £370 so am pretty close to buying it.

I'm a mystery shopper and one of my assignments on the weekend was to enquire about buying a tablet (such as the ipad 2). I had to carry this out in HMV. Now there a loads to choose from, and one of the staff in there talked me through each product and the pro's and con's of each item. I would recommend you go to a HMV store and seek advice, you can also have a go on each individual table, hold them feel them to find the right one for you. I was very very impressed with the customer care I was given.

I dont live in the UK but have gone for the 3G option so that I can use the computer virtually anywhere that I can get a phone signal.

I've had a few people tell me that the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 is better.

May have to go and play witht them both.

Don't write off the Sony one just yet. I think it won the best tablet or whatever in a the Gadget Show. And it was up against the ipad.

Apple seem to have led the market with lots of ideas - and look how many times other companies have imitated them. I wouldn't say that was just good marketing.

I'm using the IPad 2 now so much easier than my laptop, so user friendly I'm no technical expert but really easy to use. Can also get some good football apps as well.

I wasn't convinced, until I tried one recently. Have a dabble in the Apple shop or somewhere and you might change your mind, like I did.

Is it just a bigger version of the Iphone?

Once this laptop dies I planned on getting a Mac but was shocked to see how expensive they were when I looked online. I thought a budget of £1000 was quite substancial but it gets you little in the appple online shop

On mine now had it about three weeks, brilliant I considered others but really everything else is like a poor mans iPad, it's a bit like the golf advert where everyone is trying to compare poorer

ipad at orange has now gone from 199+ for the ipad2 and £25 a month to £30 a month with no ipad fee. Looks like the price drop is beginning.

Mate, as a non-technophobe the iPad2 (or even an original iPad like the one I have) would be more than enough for your needs. Why spend additional money on the new iPad3 next year when the existing one will do many times more than either of us are capable of??

You know what Luke, I set these tablets up for people and make them work etc but for the life of me I really don't see the point in them other than them being exec toys. They tell me "these things are great to take in to a meeting". I'm not sure though. We've got smart phones and we've got laptops. Why do we need something in between, that basically costs the same as either?

I think, when the fad dies down a bit, car boot sales are going to be full of them, with plenty of people just walking past them. Kerplunk will be outselling then.

My mrs just bought me one, i rarely use it because I can't get the kids off it. What I would suggest though is don't go for the 3G version (like my mrs bought for me) just go for the wi~fi version and go to the 3store and get a Mi-fi unit for £18.99 a month for 15GB usage, it creates your own mobile wi-fi hotspot. If needs be you can connect up to 5 wi-fi accessories to it.
The only problem I find is the face time for video calling will only work on wi-fi, not on 3G.
