Am I right in thinking...

Tue Dec 06, 2011 4:52 pm

...that there is a plaque for Jock Stein on the away bench at the Cardiff City Stadium? If so, and it's a lovely gesture by the way, then perhaps in the wake of events with Gary Speed, it would be a nice gesture to have a similar one on the home dugout?

Also, there was a nice write up about the members on here raising money for Aiden Rosser in the Evening Post tonight, well done to all involved on here.

yes there is the plack from the away dug out in Ninian Park was relocated to the away dug out at CCS on the day of the Wales v Scotland friendly in Cardiff
the Gary Speed plaque isnt a bad idea though Jock Stein did actually die at Ninian Park
though i wouldnt object to a plaque saying this is where he managed his last game i suppose

I was at the match when Jock Stein died, very young at the time and I didn't realise what was going on. Being a Scots lad living in Swansea though, I remember the grief that went around at the time. Different circumstances and all that, just might be a thought, thats all.

im not saying its a bad idea but the only argument i could see against a Gary Speed plaque would be the difference that Jock Stein did die at the stadium where Gary Speed didnt
other than that it would be a good gesture

I didn't mean it to come across that I was disagreeing either, it's a valid point. Sorry if it seemed that way.

Didn't the Jock Stein plaque get relocated from Ninian Park Away Dug-out to the Ninian Park gates just outside the Stadium last season and was unveiled at the 25th anniversary of his death?

Image

Maybe a plaque on the other side of the gates?

Yeh that is the original, got a few pictures of it at Ninian park. Really wanted to rob it when working on stripping down Ninian park, glad I didn't now though admittedly.
