apart from only winning 6 competitive matches, his genural outlook on wales was not ambitious enough, it's as if he had a mark of how good wales were and that was it we could never be any better.
the wales team before the wales v italy home win in 2003 , which was pretty much our peak, inluded, gabbidon, delaney, savage, speed, giggs, bellamy, hartson, simon davies, pembridge , earnshaw,
which for any manager is a great side, also that same starting 11 never lined up again for hughes due to injurys etc
the bottom line is when hughes never had the players he struggled and was limited made us play boring forfit a win play for a draw style football, where you compare speed, he had only recently got us playing attacking high tempo football that alot of critics doubted we'r capable of because of the lack of quality in the side,
if you look at the likes of managers coming through, theirs alot out there and wales definately need a breath of fresh air, and someone dedicated, the trend these days seems to be the younger managers do extremely well

My main problem with him was his attitude towards the youngsters, he totally ignored the U21's and a lot of the good young players had no time at all in the first team. IMO Hughes used Wales to get a prem job, the squad tosh took over was a shambles.
Tosh's problem was his tactical ability in the modern game but IMO he certainly got it right reinventing the set up of the U21 with Flynn and bringing in the new players. It gave Speed a chance and Speed continued to built on the foundations. We now need a manager who can continue this, I just think Hughes is a manager who will again think of himself and not think over the bigger picture.
