Who thinks we now need more than ever 3 or 4 quality players to sustain our promotion challenge ?

Yes its great the Carling Cup run and I for one love it, but with the FA Cup coming soon and 2 more games in the Carling Cup to come plus many hard league games to come, plus of course the winter is about to get worse, with injuries and suspensions that might come our way, I say we desperately need more players, if we want to maintain the main prize promotion to the Premiership.


We have off loaded 5 players on loan saving at least £60,000-£80,000 a month.

In my opinion if we could add a flair player or a genuine winger that will add something to our make up then great. If not personally I dont see the need, I believe we have strength in depth.

Regardless to what some people say im convinced that at least 3 players are need to keep things going forward

Only if MM can get the right players in that dont upset the applecart, i dont want to sign useless players to make up the numbers ie) JLS, JET, BYWATER

Annis we have already lost the away fixture at Southampton because of the CC Semi Final and if we reach the Final we will lose the Hull City fixture at home. Anything like a decent FA Cup run , byond round 4, and we could have a huge backlog of fixtures.

We already have 7 games in March and 6 in April and that means a game every 4 days for 8 weeks

Injuries and suspensions will happen so come January we really must sign another 3 players in my opinion or we will risk falling away as we have in previous seasons.

Only thing I would say to that, is that I think we need 5 or 6 newbies.

Providing the 5 players released plus 1 or 2 maybe also go back out on loan / transfered then yes the funds should be there to bring in 3 quality players ...... hope the money men at Cardiff back Malky even more so as we push on in 3 competitions ?

Same here. I'm hoping we get more in for the new year, though - if only due to the fixture congestion we'll face as mentioned by another poster.

January will do nicely, ready for a serious challenge.

January is going to be an interesting month, four Championship games, two semi final Carling cup games, & one FA cup 3rd round game, with the potential of a replay or a fourth round game towards the end of the month.

Sign up new players sharpish, please!

We certainly need players come Jan.
I don't Think it's numbers we need though I think it's an improvement on quality that we need.
Players like Keinan, gypes, Parkin, Taiwo need rid of them 3 players of first 11 quality added.

You wouldn't want to bring in any big names and upset the rythmn we have at the moment.

I think we need replacements who will be used if needed.

There are good young fellas on the brink of becoming first team regulars and they have to be nurtured first.

So, my answer is NO we don't need quality players at high expense but we want quality team members who will step in and toe the line should they be required.

Malky must not become to obsessed about bringing the right players into our squad,you can watch a perspective signing as many times as you like, you can read as many scout reports as you like it all comes down to gut instinct in the end as to whether the player will fit into your system of playing,what I'm trying to say is that buying players is not an exact science there is a lot of luck involved as well,so Mr. Malky take the bull by the horns in January and remember you got it right 9 times out of 10(not sure about Ernie)so far this season

Hope the rumours about Kebe are right. That would be a good start, if we are going with 1 up front a striker isnt so urgent, 2 wingers and another CM ball player (just in case WHitts gets injured/suspended) first. Maybe another left back if Naylor goes.

Yeah that was my thinking when people wanted loans, the cost of one loan could easily cost as much as Mason who we signed perm.

In an email TG sent to me recently he told me the board are well aware of what they have to do to sustain a promotion challenge. I think they will back Malky and give him what he needs to get us up. I do agree we probably need about 5 players to sustain a challenge through to the end of the season

he has already been trying to get the 'right players in'... he's stated that
he has the support of the board

Id be gobsmacked if he aint already got a few lined up or got his eye on a few talented additions already for january.......probably why he never threw everything at the transfer market!?!?
