Steve Kean claims he 'forfeit' the match! Yeah right

Wed Nov 30, 2011 9:35 am

Blackburn manager Steve Kean admitted he had "forfeited" their Carling Cup quarter-final against Cardiff ahead of crucial league games.
Kean's side are bottom of the Premier League and after his side's 2-0 defeat he said: "We are in a position where we have forfeited going through and having the chance to reach a cup final.
"We have games against sides within touching distance of us in the league.
"We need to treat those games as cup finals."
Kean made five changes to his side for the trip to south Wales, electing not to risk the defensive trio of Christopher Samba, Martin Olsson and Michel Salgado, who have all had hamstring injuries.
He added: "They could have played at a push and if we had been in a slightly different position in the league. We have Swansea coming up so I made five changes and left those lads behind.
"We wanted to make sure we have those lads available for Saturday. Saturday has to kick-start our season."
After a bright start, Rovers were outplayed by their Championship hosts and, while Kean was disappointed with their display, he felt he was right to make changes.
Kean commented: "It is a big disappointment. They were on the back foot to start, we had half-chances and pinned them back.
"But then the confidence starts back up for them when they scored because they're at home where they've been good. It gives everyone a spark."
A section of Blackburn fans have called for Kean, who signed a new contract last week, to be sacked and have staged a series of protests.
And the travelling support made no secret of their dissatisfaction at their cup exit with chants of "Kean out" ringing round the ground.
But Kean, who will meet with club owner's Venky's today to discuss potential January transfer targets, insists their disapproval does not affect him.
He said: "It's never nice when the fans are negative but, when you are focused on the game, it's something you put to the back of your mind. It doesn't affect me.
"We all want the same things. We all want the club to win the game. The fans are frustrated but we all need to stick together."

I just read that. Unbelievably insulting to us. They still had a side packed with experienced Premier League players. If were clueless and not looking interested, not our problem. We played them off the park. End of. But what an insult to the couple of hundred Blackburn fans who made the trip. This guy is complete idiot and will take them down into the Championship.

Used to feel a bit sorry for Kean but hes becoming like a broken record now.He appears to come from the Dave Jones school of not sharing any of the responsibility when he loses a game.

First things first. Congratulations on a great result last night well deserved i was told. Right then lets talk about that so called manager of a prem team. He got his ass kicked last night and he comes out with crap like that. If i was his chairman he wud have been in my office today picking up cheque to pay him off and that goes for any manager who doesnt want to win the next game regardless of who you are playing. No wonder tha fans want shot of him as a footy fan how the hell could you trust such a fool. He is a disgrace and I have any respect I had for him ATB. Reeco

Perfectly summed up , but his comments detract from our superb performance.

The best team , over 90 mins won !!!!!!!!

As I've said in other threads , he's just putting off his signing on every fortnight

I am not a gambling man but if he keeps his job until the end of December it will be a miracle. I feel sorry for the Blackburn faithful that put in the hard miles took a day of work spent the best part of £ 100 to back a manager like that. I bet some of the senior pros at Blackburn are livid. There is no room in football for half hearted managers like him. ATB. Reeco

First of all I thought Dave Jones was an utter tosser but Keane makes Jones look the classiest manager in the world. I do feel sorry for Blackburn Fans having to put up with that buffoon. He has a Hyde rougher than a million Dave Jones to get that stick and come back with drivel after every game. There owners seem clueless and with them and that clown in charge they will free fall whatever League they are in. For there support to travel all that way to witness the drivel they witnessed they must feel really pissed off. And to say what he did about us he has no class at all and was disrespectful of our players and Manager and our supporters. But to cap of any Manager that waits to gone 80 minutes whilst two goals down and then puts on there best strikers is a complete incompetent imbecile and that is me being nice.
I do not wish to bad Blackburn but only there Manager, who is as much use as Mudflaps on a Tortoise.
