SCHOOLS CLOSED, AM I MISSING SOMETHING

Every news channel is focusing on the school closures and the disruption it's causing, people having to find child care or even take their kids with them to work etc. but am i missing something, how do we manage when these teachers have one of their many "training days" and the kids have a day off, or how do we manage during the twelve weeks or so holidays the teachers get every year.

Hospitals yes, and some other public sections yes, major disruption and sad state of affairs, but schools for one day, the kids playing football in my street don't appear to traumatised.
