Well at least the Euro will be extinct soon. Same old Tory policies.

euro won't become extinct but several countries may have to "leave" the euro as Germany can't foot the bill for all of them, no matter how rich they are.

I just listened to one of the political commentators on the BBC and he revealed that it will take until 2015 for the economy to grow enough so that in real terms living standards will rise. In fact living standards have fallen so much since 2007 that even in 2015 we will only be as well off as we were in 2001!
In some ways I do feel sorry for George Osborne as he has been handed a thankless task, but on the other Labour are correct that the Government have cut too deep and too fast.
It would have been better to half the structural deficit over this Parliament and use the money saved to stimulate the economy and thus stop having to pay out social security payments.
The problem we now have is that the Government have failed to stimulate growth and will have to borrow money just pay those who are out of work and making cutting the deficit almost impossible.

Spot on !
Where is the sense in reducing the public sector by paying redundancy packages and then, with no jobs about, paying them again in benefits, etc. Couple that with the loss of revenue from tax, NI contributions and spending on the high street and you have a problem
The uncertainty in the huge public sector over job security is reducing spending therefore reducing growth. I know I'm no financial expert but these policies simply do not add up
It's easy to cut but it ain't so easy to generate confidence and, as a result, growth in the economy when people can't see where they will ever ghet a meaningful job again. I believe Osborne is out of his depth and what he thought would be an easy, vote winning, fix (cutting the public sector) is turning out to be a nightmare for the whole country apart from the chosen few.

I'm screwed. Out of a job in 2 weeks' time and a lot of the jobs currently available are poorly paid. Losing my job because of a wunch (the collective noun for bankers).
Happy days. Got the money to enjoy Christmas and New Year, then it's down to the serious business of finding a job - preferably one with a salary that's not too insulting.
Come on, Eton Toffs, help the poor old Taffies, won't you?!! No, that's right, you don't give a flying.
"God Save The Queen?" No thanks. Save the people instead. The decent hardworking people, not the sponging toffs or the trackie wearing chavs, but the decent people.

Very true, Mr Riddim. It's one of the most dangerous diseases known to man, because many people think it's actually good for them, despite the fact that they remain poor from the cradle to the grave. Very strange phenomenon. Never got my head around why so many poor people cheer the royal family either.

why are we as people buying our stuff and services from india and china?????
buy british or refuse to deal with any frim that doesnt have a uk service.
also - why when we cant compete with manufacturing in china etc (where they employ people like slaves for 16 hours a day for 6 days a week so they can make everything cheaper) - arent we import taxing them so that our businesses are playing on a level platform??
also - Why is it almost impossible to tender for jobs from government and councils because their selection purposes vitually stops small businesses or groups of small busnesses applying?????
also - why are we selling land to build supermarkets (that get their stuff mostly from abroad)and killing off local shops, cafes and pubs??
also - why is our border so easy to get through - that 100s of thousands just turn up and take benefits that we have to pay for??
also - why are there so many fucken rules and costs to start any business here?????
It aint fuckin rocket science - just too many backhanders for the people who suppose to respresent us

That's the key, fella. All of the mainstream parties have let us down.
What now? Damned if I know. Mind you, I was educated in Ely, Cardiff, so nobody's expecting me to have the answers!

All the other parties seem to be fringe and have ideologies rather than method to manage a complex thing like a country.
the main parties have financial backing from individuals or groups plus they run the papers and media - so a new party would struggle.
It would be great if we voted non main parties in elections and they all lost a few seats - would frighten the fcuk out of them

Apart for the senseless loss of our brave soldiers. How much is this war in afgan costing. also was there any need for us to get involved with Libya And spend another shit load of money. Just to replace one dictator with others. This money would have been better spent on prolong up our own economy
Tue Nov 29, 2011 4:49 pm
the tories are begining to look out of their depth, they look a shambles on the economy and seem to want to blame everyone else, before they came to power we were heading out of recession with good growth figures now all this cutting has landed us right in it and i can't se us coming back to proper growth for a generation, the only thing which is stopping a complete collapase is low intrest rates, which the goverment have no control over ,thank god, when these start to rise then we will be like greece or spain as many new mortages are around 4.5 to 5.5 above base rate,i would not want to be paying that on £100,000 or above, thats when our banks will collapse with the housing market.

Can someone explain to me how the cuts are putting the UK forward?

If I was in charge, I'd ask the public what they'd want.

It's easy to explain. Lets say you are struggling to pay your mortgage. The answer is to cut your income... oh wait a minute, uh... ar... right then. I know, I'll borrow more money to make my mortage bigger. In the very short term I'll be able to pay it back with the money I just borrowed on top. In the mid to long term I'll pay my now bigger mortgage by ar... um... cutting my income further.... I think....

or you could change the terms and lenght of time you want to pay it off you don't have to pay it all off over one term.
