I have been crap at my job today

Tue Nov 29, 2011 12:07 am

Really been rubbish in work today, not at the races at all.

Gary's passing has really hit me hard, I am devastated, in tears yesterday and today not ashamed to say. A real Welsh footballing athlete and role model. Wasn't shire first off with his appointment, but I got him all wrong. I was so excited for our national teams future with him, after years and years of heartbreak, embarrassment and mediocrity.

I never knew him personally, can't imagine those who did must be feeling.

Its my 2nd stag weekend coming and up was gonna be a right rave up for Brum, right now I just feel like chilling in Canton and raising my glass to him a few hundred times! Cant be there tomorrow but will bring my welsh flag on Sunday for sure. RIP Speedo lad, missing you already butt.

working late nathan, gutted can't be there. same age as me, dad like me, followed his career all the way, my kind of player, my kind of human being.

Don't ever recall feeling this bad about any 'famous' persons passing. Hope to see you for a drink on Sat in the village, we are out all day for a kind of second stag, and then again in Canton on Sunday, will be on the early train. :ayatollah:

Keep your chins up and recall the good times.
We had a similar situation up here almost 16 years ago when Davie Cooper passed away while still playing for my team. I was heartbroken and it was so f*cking hard. Nothing seemed to matter to so many people. Thousands attended his funeral. Even now, I still thank back to that whole spell and wonder why. Then I think of the good times and smile. I have his last ever worn jersey stored away somewhere safe. After my son it's my pride and joy. Every March I spend a few minutes thinking back to what I got to see, the man was a genius with his left foot - how similar does that sound? At least Gary could head the ball! Take heart that Gary feels he is in a better place now and will want everyone to move on and remember the good times. The time to move on for everyone will differ, and you can only move on when you feel the time is right. Be sad, but be happy that Gary is at peace with whatever troubled him and take heart that everyone's love and support will help Gary's family, friends and supporters through a horrific time in their lives.

RIP Gary
