Sick !!

Just had two speed jokes come through on my phone Ain't gonna be hypocritical here as i am a sick b*stard who finds bad taste jokes funny. But those were awful so deleted them straight away. Dont want to hear them

i usually like sick jokes but don't want to hear any about speed.

just shows how distasteful we are as people sometimes though....


i dont mind a joke generally , however certain events and individuals are one big joke, however gary speed was not.... y would anyone want to make a joke about this.....

horrendous ....... there is a line and sometimes it shouldnt be crossed....

But everyone's tolerance of what is acceptable and what is not is totally different.. I have in the past posted replys about what i have felt have been distastful jokes/comments only to be shot down by others. I just don't feel when it suits someone that a comment/joke isn't acceptable they make reference to it but when it suits an individualt it is ok to post a joke or comment that may offend someone else but basically tough shit.. that is hypocritical...

and by the way any joke about this event i hear or see {even from a mate} would be met with extreme disgust and outrage from myself..

I'm a hypocrite myself, I've forwarded Amy winehouse jokes. My opinion is a joke is always a joke, and people shouldn't take it to heart. I seen some jokes about speed and just felt sick though, imagine if it was a family or friend reading it.

Not really especially not at this tragic time.

I've been to see jimmy carr a number of times and he is very edgy with real life situation. Maybe it's a case of a time and a place I dunno. All I know is I'm gutted.

I think that is the issue, when it's close to home it's a total differnt kettle of fish, people send/tell/post jokes when their detached from the subject at hand and don't really think of how that joke/comment would be deplorable/hurtful to someone who is affected by it... brings it to reality when it means something to you as an individual... thats why i don't like them full stop...!!

Just got the same thing! I'm usually one for sick jokes. Like when Michael Jackson died, that didn't mean anything to me and he brought a few things upon himself. But when I had a quick look on Sickipedia on my iPod I was confronted with about 4-5 Gary Speed jokes. It was good to see they all had low ratings but it still made me feel disgusted.
The same on YouTube. Just looking for the 'theres only one Gary Speed'' chant from the Jacks as I missed the match on TV, and everyone was abusing one poster, who stupidly abused Speedy becuase he played for Newcastle. Makes me feel sick!!

It all comes down to how close the victim is to you.

Where did I say it was courageous.?? Now to be honest your touching a raw nerve here about suicide and it's effects, have you got experience of it? so do me a favour keep your insenstive comments to yourself...

All jokes about people's death ( no matter the circumstances ) are wrong and have little to one humors value.
It is a very very sad time indeed! But the only ones i feel sorry for are Garry's family. Because when someone kills them self its a bit like dropping a stone into a pond and making ripples, the stone stops and rest at the bottom but the ripples carry on. With the ones closest to you having to deal the ripples after you have gone. Garry Speed was a great footballer and as we have seen recently he had the markings of a great Wales manager, As well as being a absolutely genuinely nice nice man. I am sorry if any of you feel that i'm not towing the party line but its just the way i feel. Rip Garry.

My apologies, as you are jumping all over anyone who doesnt share your views on depression / suicide, I thought it was you on another thread saying it took a brave person to commit suicide. I apologise.

However, your jumping all over me, calling me a clown / insensitive when I am far from it. I am gutted yesterday with the news. Still am.

The point I originally tried to make in this thread, albeit I didnt elaborate, was Alan Davies did not touch people in the way that Gary Speed did, and thats why i think people have more sympathy with Speedo.

A lot of people think suicide is a selfish act, especially when kids involved, and the sympathys are usually held for the ones left behind rather than the person who commits. As Speedo has touched so many people in a positive way I think those that hold those beleives are cutting him a bit more slack than they normally would.

And for the record I have suffered depression, and had to seek medical help, although I am in a good place at the moment, so dont jump to the wrong conclusions just because someone has a difference of opinion to you.

But you happily go on a website called sickipedia. Anyone who dies has someone who thinks a lot of them be it Michael Jackson, Amy Winehouse or whatever. You are either up for jokes or not up for jokes about these sort of things. You cannot cherry pick as it is someone you have respect for.
