" MAJOR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LAST SEASON AND NOW "

Sun Nov 27, 2011 2:26 pm

We are beating the teams above and around us

West Ham
Southampton
Derby
Forest
Reading
Palace
Leicester (albeit in a Cup match)

These are all sides that will be battling it out at the death. I daresay all
the top 6 will come from this bunch, and we have nothing to fear from
any of them. Under Dave Jones we always struggled to beat the top teams
in the Division. Points lost that ultimately cost us dearly. The fact that
we ARE beating the 'better sides' can only be a good thing surely!!

They also beat us twice. Forest did the double over us, Reading was two draws, QPR took 4 points off us. Taffy definitely has a point and it's great to see. :ayatollah:

When you look at last Season it was our failiure to beat Norwich at Carrow Road when we were 1-0 up in injury time that really cost us although you can't turn back time i think this side would have secured the win and ultimately promotion :?:

Of course, Norwich got a late equaliser against us, so I stand corrected there. But Norwich were the only team in the top 6 last season we took points from. I actually think this season is our best chance of getting promotion, if Malky is able to sign another 3-4 quality players in the January window, we will have a squad able to achieve promotion imo.

Maybe stats will prove me wrong but I always felt we done well against the better teams under DJ but struggled badly against the lower teams.

Swings and roundabouts.

Conveniently taffy leaves leeds out of his analysis

Smashed em twice last year. only drew this year. coventry away the same.

weve also failed to beat blackpool and hull who are much higher up the table than reading and forest.

We didnt beat leicester either so why are they on the list?

If we are going to have another 'we would have lost that under jones' lets at least have all the facts.

To put some meat on the bones of Taffyapples post here this is the record for both this season and last season for results against teams in the top 6 after 19 games.

Last Season
Derby Away won 2-1
Swansea Home lost 1-0
QPR away lost 2-1
Coventry away won 2-1

Burnley were the other team in the top but we hadn't played them after 19 games. Points total 6 out of 12 points.

This Season

West Ham away won 1-0
Southampton Home won 2-1
Blackpool away drawn 1-1
Leeds away drawn 1-1

Middlesbrough are the other team on the top 6 who we are yet to play. Points total 8 out of 12points.

In short Taffy is absolutely spot on. As usual I would say. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Thank you. :ayatollah:

I didnt want to make a drama out of this :?

I never 'conveniently' left anyone out. Because it was an observation
not an in depth analysis.

I FELT that under our last manager we had a pretty poor record overall
against teams above us. Not just last season either.

The top teams generally had the top players and the top managers and
too often they got the better of Cardiff City...

Not any more it would seem! :ayatollah:

Taffy forgot to mention Derby and Crystal Palace were both in the top 6 when we played them and we also beat both of those. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Polo, I mentioned Reading and Forest because they finished in the playoffs last season. Castleblue has said all that needs to be said now anyway.

Now come on, let's all try to be positive.

We can also grind out results, keep a lead and are harder to beat.

For me our main problem last year was we didn't win all the easy games against teams we should have stuffed, we couldn't keep a lead, and couldn't win if we didn't score first.

Malky deserves al the paise he is getting he has done a fantastic job so far :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

My own feeling is that THE WHOLE CLUB is responsible for our current
position.

The whole is greater than its sum of parts.

Somebody made the decision to employ Malky, and let him totally restructure the
playing side of the Club. By the same token... Mackay employed dieticians, therapists,
new training techniques, new backroom staff. THEY are all working hand in hand with a
new playing staff, who are getting the players right... who are backed up by the Club staff!!

Who get paid every month.

Cardiff City take a bow! :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
