" 4,000 and 18,000 "

Sun Nov 27, 2011 9:52 am

Yesterdays game v Forest there were nearly 4,000 City fans missing from our 18,000 season tickets holders.

Hmm

And an average of about 2,500 are missing every game.

That's quite a few City fans missing Annis, could it be work commitments and the Xmas period coming up maybe?

I did think of both of them, just shame the family stand never looks full, but sold out every game.

A lot of season tickets in the family stand are for kids who are under 9 due to them being free, a lot of families do not always take their kids for various reasons, perhaps this needs looking at in the future.

So there were 22,500 there, 14,000 of them ST holders, that means we had approx 8,000 non ST holders??????

There should be no entry to that section unless both the adult and child are present. Folk are taking the piss out of the cheaper prices and are doing folk who want to take their kids there out of a seat.

Perhaps they could make under 9s season tickets £50 and 9-16 year olds £99, perhaps that would make a difference.

The problem appears to be throughout the ground Annis and we all know that this season we are yet to have a crowd above last years average attendance. Whatever the reasons family, xmas or money the club has a challenge to get on top of this in my opinion because if they don't they will see a drop off in ST for next season.

Traditionally one of the lowest attendances will be the Saturday before xmas and fair play to the club they are trying this ambassadors day to try and get the attendance up but they need to be doing more of this. AW said in his interview that the club was concerned about ST holders feeling should they offer to many discounted price offers but they need to do this.

Our team deserves to be playing in front of a packed stadium and the club needs the money so lets hope the club can come up with some good marketing and get this stadium packed.

If adults are continually using an st for the family stand and not taking their kids then the club should block their card. Surely it is part of the terms and conditions?

Gary, I have to agree with you, our team is riding high, yet the attendances have not improved, they deserve to be playing in front of full houses. If we dont go up, our attendances will prob drop again and this does worry our club. It does need addressing now.

Not sure that is the answer!! your going to get games where family come first or the game is a late game and the child has school in the morning, I think the club have to tackle the problem when the child is never present at th game.

CCFC do issue emails to constant offenders and warn if this carries on they will have to relocate to another part of the ground .

I taking my son who has just gone 7 to the Blackburn game to see how he gets on!!! I'm hoping that all will be well and he does not get too tired.

If ai know I can not make a match I send an email around work to give someone a free day out.

Not sure what more can be done, other than the club having a buy back option, only then may be it will change. :)

Re: " 4,000 and 18,000 "

Sun Nov 27, 2011 10:37 am

I have hered that up to 750 people per week are missing from the Family Stand alone.

People that have taken free under 9's seats and blokes that have cheated the system and dont have kids in the section, bought a cheap seat and dont hardly go.

Hered the club are monitoring the situation.

Re: " 4,000 and 18,000 "

Sun Nov 27, 2011 10:44 am

And the worst part of the situation with the family stand is that when people are trying to take their kids to a game and buy a ticket for the Family Stand they are being refused and told its sold out, cos technicaly it is, but we all know there will be empty seats.

Someone mentioned on the 'other board' a few weeks back that a family of 4 left the ticket office quite gutted as they were quoted over £80 for 4 seats for themsleves and 2 children on the day.

The equivalent would have been way less in the Family Satand.

I understand that the club are aware of the problems and are now selling seats cheaper to families in the Grandstand sides which is bound to piss off people who have paid top whack for the same seat.

Its all a mess realy.

I thought the Family Stand was the fullest I have seen it all season, did it look that bad then.

The Canton looked emptier than normal yesterday.

Re: " 4,000 and 18,000 "

Sun Nov 27, 2011 10:48 am

I missed because of the atmoshere.. I enjoy the buzz it gives me when the whole canton stand is singing and to be honest I couldn't be bothered... Ive had a season ticket for 10 years and this year I've never missed so many games.... I'd just rather play for my local team...... It doesn't make me less of a Cardiff fan because Cardiff is everything to me... As people who know me know that... But I fell in love with ninian park I think... And the more I go to the new stadium the more I can't be bothered.. :ayatollah:

The worst I have seen it was probably the Barnsley Home Game.

50% full at the most. :ayatollah:

It wasnt to bad yday but there were still large pockets of empty seats.

Interesting post. I myself am away in Scarborugh at present so missed the game. People buy season tickets in the full knowledge that they are likley to miss at least 5 Games a season.

Whatsmore a fan is more inclined to miss night games and matches this time of year as apposed to the begining and business end of the season.

I think the positive thing is that we had a walk up of 8,000 as somebody previously mentioned. With our all seater stadium its always going to prove difficult to sell out as there must be an awful lot of unsold single seats around the place and if I was a casual fan, bringing a friend , I would not wish to purchase a single seat in one row and your friend in another row.

An old mate I hadn't seen down CCS sat next to me on a 'borrowed' ticket. We had a little chat and he was saying that money was tight but more importantly he was saying about the lack of atmosphere and the ability to be together in the ground stops him coming.
(Around us were 5 ST seats spare) we were saying how much better ninian park was as he could just come down and within 3metres he would head for where we stood. No phone calls, no hassle - he could decide on the day and know he would have company in the ground and not have to sit on his own (like CCS). This issue affects both walk ups and season ticket holders. I'm a season ticket holder and have missed 4 home games this season. No burning desire to be there, hell or high water, for the CCS experience. My mates are dotted around the stadium and we are not together. There is no freedom of movement and no community of fans.
We were saying that you couldn't share banter even a footy mate 4 seats away in the CCS as we are all individually sitting, where in the bob bank terrace or grange you were grouped and part of our enjoyment was the wise cracks and stories between ourselves while the dire parts of the game were on.

I definately think standing would help. Plus the club could be more progressive in ticket swapping.

I also think that the forum should be able to block book a section of seats for passionate season ticket holders with space for walk ups with no seat numbers, just a ticket for that section.

I have been saying for a while now. These people will mostly not renew their season tickets. there are some with STs who have mates who dont, yet they can't go to watch a game together. It will be interesting to see just how many season tickets will get sold next season if we stay where we are.
The mad thing is - what a team and manager, its great. The stadium is what is holding us back. They need to price for ability to pay, offer group bookings, allow for flexible seating and get a drum or fukin trumpet!

Ticket sales could go through the guys who organise their local coaches. You would have the crack of all being together then - just a thought.
