" EXTREMELY BORING, BUT "

Todays game v Forest to me was the most boring home game so far in my opinion, BUT once again Malky's talent/brilliance shone through and Malky did a substitute by bringing young Joe Mason on and bang he scored and changed the game and another Victory for us and Malky. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Be honest, how did you feel the game was going ? I def felt it had a nil draw written all over it.

More than pleased with another victory :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Still think we need a few more players, but in Malky I trust. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

If we'd put away our chances in the first half, we could have been 3 - 0 up.

Re: " EXTREMELY BORING, BUT "

very dull game for a while, thought we could have controlled the midfield a bit better... forest didnt really offer much apart from hoof ball...

one thing which has annoyed me everytime we play them is y do we hit high long balls up against wes morgan aka william the refridgerator perry... hes huge and yet we dont seem to run at him at all.... hes not the most mobile of players..

really thought nil nil was on the cards also... last 20 mins cant believe how the atmosphere changed... why cant we do this from the off....

Said to my wife on the way down " I got a bad feeling about this one and it could be a banana skin2 it had nil nil all over it, but we chipped away, no one got rattled, they all stuck to it and we got the result. this team is made of good stuff and in Malky we trust.

I may even allow myself to start getting carried away yet again even after all the recent close calls and swearing that I would never set myself up for a fall again, well here I am humpty f*cking dumpty, but somehow, I don't think there's going to be a fall this time.

Excellent 3 points gained today through quite a boring game.
You can tell how well we are playing by the atmosphere, the better we play the better the atmosphere. The atmosphere in the 1st half was dire to be honest, because the way the game was going.
All our fans today expected an easy win, but I can assure all our fans that you never get an easy game in this Championship. Great tactics again by Malky to bring on Mason. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

As the game went on I began to think it would only take one goal to win it, and so it proved :ayatollah:

Re: " EXTREMELY BORING, BUT "

Sat Nov 26, 2011 9:50 pm

probably the most boring game since the 0-0 against palace last season
forest were very solid and organised to be fair but woeful going forward, whats happened to lewis mcgugan(sorry if spelt wrong) he was shite as he has been all season
what impressed me was malky made the obvious substitution relatively early in the second half .(Jones would have waited till the 95th minute )
shame joey mason wasnt brought on at coventry as im certain we would have won that game.
malky showed what faith he has in young joe ralls bringing him on in palce of the experienced steve mcphail

sadly i was working so i had no way of watching or listening to the game, but funny enough soon as i sat down, put on the tv, sky sports news, JOE MASON HAS SCORED FOR CARDIFF !!!!!

it doesnt matter if its boring, all i ask is that every player gives 110%......thats all i have ever wanted from my club, people who want to work for each other, and show us fans they are as passionate as we are

im rather suprised as i thought young joe mason would be better suited being shipped off on loan to someone in league one or two, or even on loan at plymouth to get a load of game time

A gritty and determined performance.
Maybe not the most fluent, but 3 very welcome points

The difference is Malky has a PLAN B and a PLAN C if need be ;) Tactically he is light years ahead of his predecessor here, he just needs the support of the board come January. The club want us to dig deep to come out in our droves for the Blackburn game well board of directors I have a message for you too, dig deep come January  :ayatollah:

I think Forest played in a way that was unusual for a Steve Cotteril team. They came for a point, hoping to nick 3, but in the end, they got exactly what they deserved - NOTHING.

Forest worked hard in the first half and tried to spoil the game, but I'm now starting to feel that the way we play will tire teams out and although it's not pretty to watch - I LOVE IT!

I disagree that it was boring, as you could see Forest start to throw the towel in after their little spell at the beginning of the second half, exactly the same thing happened against Palace.

I love the fact that we outwork teams in order to beat them and it's proving to be true that hard work definitely pays off!

Haven't felt this good about supporting City since the Hammam days.

Its easy to win when you're playing well - it takes a good team to win when you aren't at your best. Both teams closed each other down so tightly that I also thought 0-0 was on the cards.

incidentally, am I the only one that thought that the decision to award us the free kick that led to our goal was a poor decision? The assistant referee gave it, not the ref. It looked a perfectly good tackle to me.

Still, over the course of the season these things usually even themselves out - we got a break there today.

Re: " EXTREMELY BORING, BUT "

You have to take into acocunt that Forest did not have a game Tuesday night. Also they are starting to get their act together since the arrival of Cotterill. Our team had a daunting task ahead of them today.

I was delighted with our first half performance but was worried about the second half as I felt we would get tired and fade away leaving Forest to take the spoils.

The way we dug in in the second half was impressive. Forest came at us knowing we would be tired but we held them off and then went on to get the goal. We then had to dig further in to hold onto what we had worked for. It was only some sloppy play in midfield that allowed Forest to trouble us, if we could have cut that out then it would have been a perfect performance considering everything.

Considering everything and the way we went about the job....it was far from boring.

I thought Forest were well organised and they were definitely hard to break down, but I thought they were woeful going forward - no creativity in midfield (McGugan was there to provide it, but he was useless) and although they had pace to burn in Findley up front, he received basically zero service.

It also took me a while to work out what formation they were playing  Unusual for me really  It was a 3-5-2 or 5-3-2 anyway, for anyone who was also confused with it! 3 centre-halves in Chambers, Morgan and Lynch, and two wing-backs in Cunningham and Gunter. McGugan, Moussi and Greening the midfield trio and that left Findley and Tudgay up front.

Can't see why they didn't just go with 4-5-1 and match-up with us :? After all, what the hell is the point of having 3 centre-halves against one centre-forward?!

I've never rated mcgugan and thought it was laughable people wanted to swap witts for him plus us add money a few months ago lol crazy. Everytime I've seen mcgugan I've been left dissapointed except for the odd long range goal.

Well pleased with 3 points, said to my boy at half time this has to be a 0-0 its so boring nobody is creating any good chances. But some good subs played by our manager(he do like to give game time to youngsters) gave us the advantage in second half.Well done to the BLUEBIRDS.This is going to be an exciting season for us all ENJOY IT. :ayatollah:

Great post, fair play. Sums up my thoughts on this City side tbh. It may not be the fancy football we came to anticipate frmo JayBoths and Bellers and co, but that's a good thing. The weight of expectation bearing down from the stands last season was ludicrous, tangible throughout the 90 minutes and, imho, a big factor in our eventual failure. I'm not saying we weren't right to expect big things, but the way we went about things as supporters was wrong last year.

This year all I hear is patience, applause when good passes are made but intercepted - essentially, support, not detrimental and vindictive abuse like some of our squad recieved last year on oh so many occasions.

It's certainly a different Cardiff City this season.

And who doesn't get really fired up when Malky stays out and punches the air and claps us all? What a brilliant bloke - I've already said I take back everything I said last year when I couldn't understand people slagging off Jones for not bothering to do that sort of thing.

Agreed, we are usually better in the second half this season, this was always going to be a hard game, cottrel teams usually put up a bit of a fight. Great win.

I agree, but forest set up for a draw and were a very big well organised side and the longer it was 0-0 they must have thought they could nick a goal. City stuck at it and I feel it was our best result this season because it showed how far Malky has taken this side and the improvement in attitude.

P.S

No more bogey sides/ months anymore ?
