Remember this Panorama programme well. It caused a huge stir. We already knew all about Millwall, but this got them a fame and notoriety that they have never lost. We both got promoted from Div 3 in 75/76. Tottenham had been relegated, and were due to play Millwall twice. The Millwall fans were basically calling them to come and have a go, on TV. Unheard of in those days.
Say what you like about Millwall, they are a proper club, with proper fans. The Den was a ferocious place. But I can always say that I went there, in the 70s, and lived to tell the tale. Hell of a journey on the tube from Whitechapel to New Cross Gate. If you had been to Millwall away, there was nothing else in ths world to fear.

I went to that game, one of the safest games ive been to, there were more coppers than fans that day and not a hint of trouble we were bricking it on the way up but after that panarama programme it was a doddle
