Alcohol and our Kids !! Debate

How do you deal with Alcohol and your Kids ?. You may have gone through it and found your method worked. It might have failed and you would do it different now. You May have got very young Kids at the moment and haven't thought about it yet, or you have it in mind what you intend to do.Or you may be a Kid on here with your own views.

Have you had a total ban on it and hope for the best or give your Kids a little in the hope they then won't drink on the Street corner and get wasted with there Mates. Or do you just try to get your Kids to respect Alcohol and let them know its Pleasurable but can be deadly if abused.

I know i give my Boy a Little or buy him a Can or Two now and again and i do mean now and again and fair play to him it could be a week or so before he drinks it. He says he will wait till he really wants it

On the Forum Bus it may look like he has loads but he does not, i make sure of that. The first time when a couple of Forum members gave him some Jagger Bombs i soon put a stop to him having any more before it got out of hand . But i hope he does not have any behind my back, It may work or may not. We as parents learn all the time, and we get it wrong more often or not but there is no rule book. What are your views ?

my boy has had a couple on away days. he will be 18 next tues, plus i know he occasionally has a few when with mates at house parties and staying over but never to excess. even my youngest has had 1 WKD at xmas or very special occasions. i think the more you try and force them to do or in this case not do then they will go behind your back and try it.

I let my eldest boy have a sip every now and then, I want him to realise you can have a drink without needing to get drunk. Also don't want him growing up itching to try alcohol..........you know what teenagers are like - the more you try and stop them doing something or tell them they can't have something the more they want it.
Reverse Psychology and all that!!

God knows if it will work............only time will tell

My mum gave me a total ban and it didn't work the first time i went out on the piss i was so smashed the coppers had to take me home after that i calmed down now and don't need to drunk everytime usually i have a couple at house parties or around the house like. When i get older and eventually have kids they can have a couple of drinks now and again like nuclear so they don't have to experience what i did what a dreadful night.
