The club are still in talks over a player coming in on loan. Malky is optimistic of bringing the player in but has said at the moment the deal is up in the air.
If anything more develops I will keep you posted.

And my honest opinion due to Malky not being given enough funds to pay more wages, thats why he has not been able to get his targets in the last 5 weeks, lets hope the purse strings are opened wider for him.

i hope all goes well

If we do get this player in today will he be able to play at Reading tomorrow? Or will we have to wait until the game after

If they wont give wages now what hope do we have in January ? Saving a load from all the players that left - dont get it

I'm confused as to why a player/agent may be haggling on money when the player has a chance to join a team on the up. City are in the top bit of the championship and the carling quarters????
Surely, a loan could make a good name for himself and elevate him if he does well in the loan period????

More likely the parent club wanting more in a loan fee or percentage of wage than the player or agent I would think.

So a loan fee is basically a transfer fee? Or am I missing something?

In a way yes. The club may not particularly want to loan the player out, so a loan fee could be negotiated to get the player on loan, if that makes sense?

Hope im wrong BUT how often have we been here where we all get a bit of info regarding a new signing and then nothing, then some rubbish excuse will come out like the club wont let him go out on loan yet or someone messed up the paperwork blah blah blah, I feel so sorry for Malky cos he knows his targets but hes not getting backed

Has Malky been given enough funds? How much is "enough"?
Should we pay whatever the loaning club ask for in fees?
Do we know what the players are looking for? 5K? 55K?
Should the club give Malky blank checks or should they try to be financially prudent?

All depends if were serious about getting promoted.

i'd rather stay in the championship and be sure to have a team to support next year than embark on a silly shit or bust gamble like we have got embroiled in in recent years! I'd much much rather be a cardiff city fan at the moment whose board are showing prudence than a leicester fan whose board are adopting a dangerous strategy of trying to spend spend spend to get promotion (i dont know where they'll end up if they fail to get promoted this year!!!)

Yes except we get them for a shorter period, makes sense to wait til jan if we can.

I still think my theory is more likely and there is a strategic development programme in place that will see further investment in the team once the squad has settled. Too many new faces and getting 'star' players in could also mean you are throwing bad money at good, its not wise business sense.

Nat, We chatted about this, I hope your right and I am totally proved wrong.

The Echo published a 3 day series where Malky chatted with 1 of the Echo sports columnists and 1 of the points he made was that everything that he(Malky) was promised in his interview for the job the club have honoured and were true to their word, so my guess would be that any budget offered at the interview has been available to him as was promised, so saying he hasn't been given much to spend in his budget could be true but it's what was agreed to in his interview apparently.

Well he has said in the passed ,that he had 3 players in line but at the end of the day there wage demand were over what they were prepared to pay. So do this mean , that he wasnt willing to pay that ,or he wasnt given the money that he needed.? This is the question that no one knows. I would think that the way the team is playing and the opportunity we have to make a big impact in the championship. That the big guns at the top would have more confidence in Makly and give him a bigger budget ,to build on the quality we now have. Whitts is dictating play now and doing great, But what if he get injury ? and is out for a few weeks.

So somebody should just stump up endless amounts of cash?
Have fans learnt absolutely NOTHING from the Hammam, Ridsdale eras? Spending money you don't have is incredibly dumb. See Greece for an example. You've only got to read the damn accounts, income less than salaries. You address that be working on both aspects. Honestly, I truly think at times fans actively want us to go bust.
I've every confidence we'll get players in, if not now, then January. We've brought in a fair few players, plus beefed up the behind the scenes staff. All of which cost money.

People were having a go at Tan and TG at the end of last season because the debt had increased so much since they joined now people want more and more and more money invested. Even if he got three loans in which no doubt would cost a considerable amount then come Jan people would want further money and more players....then if we dont go up which of course wouldnt be near certain people would again point the finger at the increased debt that TG and Tan should have been controling. No win situation.

have we missed out on him or are we still in talks?

Any update on this or not?

None of us know exactly what his budget is, but the signs that he is being 'backed'
are impossible to miss.
Look at Cardiff City now compared to before Malky walked in through that door.
New Assistant Manager, new backroom staff, a 'specialist' who deals with agents
and chasing up players all over the World. New scouting system, New training regime,
nutritionists, a 'reserve team' (to all intents and purposes) Closer links between the
first team and the Academy. Almost a dozen new players playing their hearts out every
week.
I imagine our owners would be a little loathe to part with their money after the
amount wasted last season by Jones. But they are backing the new guy
But to say Malky has proved himself over the last few months is a massive understatement!
If he can get the players he wants, i have no doubt whatsoever that Vincent Tan
will weigh in with the money.
It would be bad business sense not to, given how far Malky Mackay has brought this
team up to now!
So far there isnt much evidence to show that our exotic owners have made many
bad decisions regarding the Club.
