" RIGHT I KNOW WHAT YOU ALL SAID "
At the beginning of the season, where you thought we will end up in the league come May 2012.

I think quite a few of us are stunned/shocked where we are at this current moment 4th in the league and in the last 8 of the Carling Cup. Malky your doing a superb job. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

So where do you think we will finish come May 2012 ?

If we just keep this current squad and don't add to it ? I reckon 8th-10th in the league.

If we add 3 or 4 more players ? I reckon top 4 at least .

I'm chuffed that I was right about the signings Malky has made. I said from day one
that they were good enough to challenge. Even if we dont add to the squad I think
we can finish top 6, but its a tough ask. With a couple more players though, I
reckon second spot can be ours!!

Go malky :ayatollah:

If MM gets backed in january and add a few new faces then i dont see any reason why we can't get top 6 (maybe higher depending on if s'hampton fall away and teams like leicester dont get their act together?)
However i dont think we have the legs to keep it up till may with no players in the january window, who knows...life as a city fan is quality at the moment so trying to enjoy it :ayatollah:

I dont think adding to the squad adds any quality to the team. It will obviously be useful if we pick up injuries but besides that I doubt it will make a big difference.

We keep going and mainly keep our consistancy then we will be top 6 possible auto place. Of course that relies on keeping the injuries down to a minimum.

If we get unlucky with injuries but have brought players in then I feel we will get a top 6 going on what MM has done so far.

If we get unlucky with injuries and don't add to the squad, we will still be a championship team next season.

First few weeks we were suffering a bit with slight pulls and strains.
Maybe because the new regime was a bit of a shock to some players
bodies?

The lads are certainly starting to look stronger and stronger now.

Don Cowie stands out as our fittest player, is it a coincidence that he
was at Watford under Malky last season?

I think we are missing 2 top players (not necessarily big names) to keep up the momentum. We will get injuries and loss of form through the season. Plus the other teams will be adding players to kick on.

I am so impressed but don't think what we have can go the distance -only time will tell.

Based on all teams and their ups and downs its still a wide race. If saints and hammers continue then there is one spot up for grabs. We still have to play teams who's form has improved and our pompey, blackpool, peterborough and hull results show that we are suceptable to lose or draw even when we play well.

We have dropped points already when wins were ours (if luck and quality were on our side). Maybe that is why my best hope is that we can get 6 spot. And that's if the teams around us do the same and drop points too.

I think even the team that we have now is stronger than the team we had last season. We were poor in patches and unreliable last season but could then produce a stormer. Now we are quietly efficient and more solid although we still leak goals.

If we get the players needed, then we can defo gt a play-off spot. Being optimistic, if we can keep up the home record and keep consistent, automatic promotion. Optimistic though but can happen :ayatollah:

There is no doubt that we have the basis of a top 6 team here. That's not blind faith but fact. But teams can have a dip in nov and dec plus in january teams will add to create or keep up momentum.

The team that got through via play offs last season were poor away and good home. They had 80 points like us but had such a large squad that they gained momentum in the run in and deserved to go through as the best team in the play off 4.

Our small squad doesn't give us those options. If we had options, I am positive top 6 place is ours :ayatollah:

This time last season Watford were starting to motor. Think they won 6-1 away to Millwall and stuffed top of the league QPR 3-0, both games away. Then to see the year out they gave us our biggest hiding, 4-1 on Boxing day. MM had got his team sorted with Cowie, Taylor, Sordal, Conway, Graham and the winger that went to Brighton this season. Sadly for Watford they lost a few of the loanees in the New Year, Taylor and Conway being 2 and had ot rely on the youngersters to replace them. Watford could not adjust and lost out else if they had managed ot keep all of those players they would have definately been play off contenders.

Well this season MM will not have to worry about losing his players. He has the nucleaus of his Watford team in Cowie, Taylor and Conway. For Graham we have Miller and a quality Sordel in Whittingham. That winger whos names escapes me well we could do with something there. Its going to be interesting.

Still think about the same, pushing for play/offs.... Delighted with MM who was always my first choice.

Still anything less than top 6 will be a poor season tho.

If we want 1 or 2 more players how much should we pay for them?
Do you think the club should continue its frugal approach or provide blank checks?
So for one player, max 20K? 15K? 10K? Remember theyre not going to be big names.

If we can afford then then we will, paying a transfer fee isnt as much as a problem as paying a long term high wage. MM is doing it right. Lets remember people like Chops were supposed to be on 20k a week, thats 80k a month, over a few months thats a good tranfer fee to buy someone long term like a Joe Mason.
Same with loans which are a waste of money unless really needed as they come with big loan fees and big wages.

Said at the start MM had a free season of expectation with time to apply his ethics and build his Cardiff team.
And so far so good, I expect at least 2 possibly 3 players to arrive in January and as long as they have a similar spirit and attitude as Don and co then we will make the playoffs. If no new faces arrive and we manage to stay clear of any severe injuries the playoffs are realistic, other wise top ten side at best...

Deffo top six,
Think we are doing really well to be sitting where we are
Confidence is high and players are "playing" as a team!!

Adding to the squad is definitely required !
3 or 4 players,

As we go into each game i feel more confident than I ever have and when we are winning I feel far more confident of staying in that position!
Ok so Blackpool & Pompey away we were one up and drew but if that had been last season we would of gone on to lose IMO
