I think he will soon be off if he dont get game time, I hope we can work something out with him, I believe he is going to get even better and still so young.

Blake: Planning talks with Mackay

Cardiff defender Darcy Blake plans talks with boss Malky Mackay because he fears for his international future with Wales.

The defender has not featured for the Bluebirds for six weeks after dropping down the pecking order in Mackay's plans.

Blake impressed in Wales' 4-1 win over Norway and he knows he must be playing regularly at club level if he is to keep his spot in Gary Speed's plans

"I'm disappointed I'm not playing but hopefully I've shown him (Mackay) what I can do," Blake told the South Wales Echo. "Cardiff's my team and it's the team I want to play for - but I want to be playing week in, week out.

"I'm going to go back, have a sit down with the manager and tell him that I need to play games.

"One of my biggest fears is losing my Wales place if I'm not playing club football."

Sell him if he is trying to demanding a place.

Darcy needs to sort himself out first viewtopic.php?f=2&t=63765

If he can sort himself out he would defo be first choice at CB and i really hope he can. But Malky needs to stick to his guns and his code of conduct :ayatollah:

I have been a supporter of City for over 55 years and i have seen a lot of players wear the blue shirt and i can honestly say that in my opinion and i suspect Malky's as well that Blake is simply not good enough

i agree, i dont think he is naturally gifted as a footballer. he is quick strong and physically built to play and has a lot of heart but football brain and football feet i just dont think he has.

it is not his fault though, he, in such a crucial age, needs alot of game time in the last couple of years and he isnt getting it.

he needs to move on either on loan for a season or sold. he is a great utility player but that is it

I think it is hard to choose the team. I think there should be a first team with half the players and an alternate team. Every week it is first team but the alternate team plays 1 in 2 matches. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Worse idea ever

Its a tricky one - ultimately, his lack of height could find him out if he plays Centre Back for an extended period of time - teams may sus this out. His play as a full back is good, without being fantastic. Unfortunately for him, his strength is his versatility.

If he wants to play regularly at Centre Back, he may have to drop down a division. If he wants to stay at Championship (or even Premier level), then his best position is always going to be supersub/backup! Particularly with only 5 on the bench at the moment. He is not as good as the best full backs in the club, or the best centre backs in the club, or the best midfielders in the club, but he is an excellent back-up for all of those positions.

Unfortunately, i'm not sure if he can cope with this back-up role without getting himself into mischief in his non-playing time.

But he has been outstanding for Wales and kept Rooney in his pocket :ayatollah: :ayatollah: That is no mean feat. Sort yourself out Darcey and be a Cardiff City legend

His height doesnt really come into it. He is taller than Canavarro, one of the
best Central Defenders of the last decade.

A lot is made of his distribution, but Gerrard and Hudson are hardly Michel Platini
on the ball are they?

Given the opportunity I think he could prove to be a lynchpin in this side, tucking
up behind the full-backs and Ben Turner. Blake has bags of potential (in my eyes)
and I think he reads the game brilliantly at the back. His 'job' on Rooney was no
fluke. It was an intelligent player keeping goal-side, keeping tight when he needs
to, dropping off when he needs to and making the opposing striker think.

But... if his head is up his arse, if he is starting to think he's Billy-big-time (and
demanding a meeting with the manager doesnt bode well)... then perhaps he
just aint a 'Cardiff type player' no more.

Away from City, I think he could well turn into a brilliant defender. But it wont be
a bad move by us if he goes, cos if his heads up his arse staying in South Wales
then he's no good to us is he?

Agree with this :ayatollah: Hope he stays at city, could be vital when injuries happen.

Sounds like interference to me, I wonder if it from the Welsh Management/Coaching team or another player tapping him up, I wonder who that could be ????

I firmly believe that players dropping down the pecking order are a positive sign for us.

This may come as a surprising statement to some however, if the likes of Darcy are dropping down the list, then to me this is evidence that our team is strengthening.

Whilst it is good to have young talent coming through the ranks I do firmly believe that it has to be your best XI that play and, to me, it does not matter whether you are 35 or 15 (recent Derby Player).

Darcy shouldnt play just because he is local. He should command a place if and when he becomes good enough (in the eyes of Malky) to command a place week in week out. I am sure Darcy would not want a place in the side unless he was good enough.

Darcy is a very good player but I dont think he is better than the likes of McNaughton, Hudson or Ben Turner and the ball is in his court to improve. He does however have age on his side.

Totally agree and I think the fact he is a cardiff lad is clouding some peoples judgement on how good he actually is at the moment.

Yeah spot on

If Darcy isnt focused and determined enough to be a model professional off the pitch -
he is more likely to make mistakes ON the pitch. Thats just human nature. I think
the lad has got a God given talent, he is CERTAINLY good enough to play Championship
level football for the remainder of his career, and earn in excess of 5k a week. He
has the opportunity to earn a minimum of 2.5m over the next ten years. If he cannot
see that he has to make sacrifices (such as missing piss-ups with the lads for a few years)
then he doesn't deserve to be in a position that ALL of us would give our right arms for.

Slippery slope Darcy... think Leon Jeanne!
