6 rounds to 4 with 2 even Juan Manuel Marquez beat Manny Pacquiao in my opinion. But hey I'm not a Nevada commissioned judge.

Judges gave pacman majority decision....

Mayweather will box his ears off.

Re: Boxing

Sun Nov 13, 2011 8:07 pm

look...the fight of "Mayweather - Pacqauio" will not be a great fight.....it will be a fight of intelligence......both fighters, are counter fighters, mayweather is the master of counter fighter with his philly shell defence, however, as both have aged, it seems mayweathers speed has decreased more than pac-mans.....the winner of the fight will be the one who doesnt take the fight to ther other person....because the other one will just counter fight him out

kahn wants to fight mayweather,,,,,and has said hes not quite ready and needs a few fights first.......why? simply because he knows in 2/3 years mayweather will have lost his speed, and due to all these chargers in court, making him unable to get a fight licence is some states which then means maybe 1/2 fights a year for him

overall.....mayweather is up against the odds

FM will not box MP ears off. 2-3 years ago this was a mega fight now its not as big i.m.o as both fighters have decreased in ability(albeit only slightly).
Amir Khan should try and get J m Marquez to fight him as i think it will be a good measuring stick for him,Khan has improved ten fold since FRoach took the reigns and i believe he needs Marquez if he is to even attempt a fight with MP or FM.

Really poor decision...I had Marquez winning by 4 rounds and that was being fairly conservative.
It stinks of a set up by Bob Arum to keep the cash cow.

Manny's timing was all off kilter and I don't think he looked good against SSM.
I thought that he was possibly playing possum to get Floyd in the ring.

Styles make fights and Marquez has given Manny problems each time they have fought.
Still think that he can be competitive against Floyd.

Re: Boxing

Wouldn't be at all surprised in regards to the Arum cash cow comment and who knows maybe the game plan was to look terrible and beatable to get Floyd to fight...
JMM has always and will always be Mannys bogey opponent but I'd never think he would've did to Pacman what he did on Saturday night.
Tim Bradley struggled to look impressive again and I agree with Steve Collins when he says Khan will take him quite easily.Looking fwd to Froch v Ward and Khan v Petterson now....

Re: Boxing

Even in the after fight conference, with both claiming they "wont the fight", Pacman did not look sincere when he said it. He knows he was beaten.

I dont think hes is this all time great that everyone suggests. 3 losses, 2 defeats, and plenty of contreversial wins. A likeable guy but i think people have got carried away. Especially those in GB because of the way he demolisged Hatton, who lets be fair, was also well overated.

Re: Boxing

I had the fight as a draw tbh. Thought Manny won the closer rounds and need the 12th round to draw which i believe he did. Marquez didnt do enough in the last two rounds, which ulimately cost him IMO. Manny should never have won though!

Anyone watch the Tyson Fury fight? Comical. That guy should never have been pulled he was getting hit but was hitting with plenty himself.

Tyson Furys promoter though. What planet was he on? "It was like Hagler v Hearns". hahaha. I think NOT.

Re: Boxing

just reading that someone said manny didnt fight well against SSM, i take it is sugar shane mosley, however i totally disagree, manny knows hes not the fighter he was 3/4 years ago so he is a smart fighter, he's sitting back and only going for it when nessicary.

amir khan isnt as good as people make him out to be, i agree he's better with roach, anyone would be, freddie is the best trainer since angelo dundee "angie" however, put him in the ring with juan marquez, miguel cotto, sugar shane (who i think he'd beat) mayweather and pacman, then he wouldnt have such a nice looking record

as for thee fight to watch this year, Carl "The Cobra" Froch vs Andre "Son Of God" Ward..... my money is on ward winning on points

froch doesnt even deserve to be in the final, he doesnt deserve his belt, he lost it out right to Mikkel Kessler (the same one calzaghe beat) but kessler left boxing for 1 year due an eye injury, so they took the belt off him and returned it to froch

I thought he faced and demolished King AA for the belt and if that is the case then I would hardly call it ( given back to him) that being said he should've face Kessler again and not Glencoffe Johnson.

As for Carl himself I like him but he always frustrated me in the early part of his career as he was always chasing one fighter( calslappy) he should've gone on his own path and not wasted several years trying to walk Joe's.
I have been impressed with him since JC's retirement though ESP when he said on skysports that he respects JC and if he can have anything of a world championship reign like joe did then he will be a happy man.

fair point, i thought he destoryed king AA, however kessler showed the way to beat froch was just to stand face to face and trade blows, dont worry about that hook...as for "calslappy" the last person to say stuff like that i believe was "jeff lacey" the young american dream tyson as they called him, and he got taught a very big lesson that night.......however when you think of the best british fighters, the first few names that come to head are "henry cooper, calzaghe, lewis, haye....you dont really consider froch in that list. hats off he got the final of the super six......but if you ask the average british armchair boxing fan, how many will say they have heard of "glen johnson, ward, abraham, dirrell, green and taylor, kessler" kessler being the exception, thats about it though. so they wouldnt consider him to fight anyone "big" and lets be fair, you look at "Wladimir and Vtali" their both known because they stop everyone and hold the titles......froch will be known for winning a tournament sadly not as prestigeous

Re: Boxing

I like Carl Froch and will be rooting for him. Yes he made a bit of tw*t himself calling out JC before he had done anything but hes not the first, and wont be the last boxer, to bow to doing things the media want you to do.

Hes become a lot more mature and i enjoy watching him on Ringside and when hes a pundit on Sky.

I also think its harsh to pass the Super Six off as "Some tournament" the match-ups and fights he has been involved in have been just as, if not more so, exciting than JCs fights.

Re: Boxing

If the same fighters had stayed in tourney it would've been better but you have to blame the organisers for that , Jermain Taylor should've never been given a place. Like the idea of it though need it in welterweight div now as that's the strongest.

Will probably get slated for this but what the hell, the comment of Henry Cooper as one of britains best is well wide of the mark, most popular for sure but not in best category .Genuine World Champions would rank as britains best, fighters who fought adversity and world champions.Ted Kid Lewis
Jimmy Wilde
Randolph Turpin
Walter McGowan
Dave Charnley
Howard Winston
Freddie Mills
Alan Minter
Terry Downes
Jackie Patterson
John Conteh
Barry McGuigan
Lloyd Honeyghan
Jim Watt
Michael Watson
Nigel Benn
Chris Eubank
Naseem Hamed
Ricky Hatton
Lennox Lewis
Joe Calzaghe
Bob Fitzsimmons
Carl Froch
David Haye
Amir Khan
Tommy Farr
And Matchstick man Johnny Owen ( although not an actual world champion he slipped into a coma after being knocked out in the twelfth round of his super bantamweight world title fight against lupe pintor and died. So no one can deny his right to be regarded as one of our ELITE.)

Re: Boxing

Pacquio is far from a counter puncher fighter, yes he does counter punch nut he's more all rounder
And for carl froch having his title back because kessler eye injury, no he did not have it back because of that, he won it back against abraham and he did it in style

 hagler and hearns, more like wobbler and sideburns, I'm not a great fan of tyson fury,
as for manny pac, he's been focusing on his politics more and less on boxing , maybe he will step up one last time for mayweather, manny has lost fights It could be the end of his reign but mayweather took a big gap out living a bad lifestyle, just as bad as gettin injured

My old man used to be Johnnys main sparring partner and Sportsnight come to the gym to do a feature on Johnny Owen in the lead up to the fight. I was 4 at the time and they had me hitting the bag, and when the feature finished they showed me hitting the bag enquiring "Is this the next Johnny Owen?"

Not to be im afraid, didnt follow in the footsteps of my old mans family, him and his brother both turned pro, I must have followed my mothers side. her dad was alcholic and her brother was a mod who liked his uppers.

First, and one of the only times, I seen my old man cry, when my gransha come up to our house (no phones in them days) to let him know that Johnny had passed away. One of my earliest memories.
