I suffered & tried everything - Believe it or not I control mine by drinking 2 litres of water a day at least

Gout is a build up of acid - The water makes sense because you are diluting it

You will piss your brains out but it controls it

Mine got so bad a few weeks ago that I had to go to A&E. :( They gave me a course of Steroid tablets, took the edge off it. I took Colchicine for 3 days before that but they didn't work this time (just gave me the Shits). Cherry juice does help a bit.

Colchicine works for me every time,I take 1 tablet when I feel it coming on and it sorts it but these are powerful and should not be taken without the doctor prescribing them,my brother in law is on aluprol 1 every day and hasn't had an attack since.Naprosyn/Naproxen can sometimes help as it is an anti inflammatory.DO NOT DRINK CIDER IF YOU HAVE GOUT
Go see your doctor and tell him you need blood tests to see what tablets you can go on and tell him if you miss one City game through gout you will come around and kill is bunnies. :o :old:

GOUT CAN BE CONTROLLED

Firstly, see the GP, they usually dispense Diclfenic sodium (anti-inflammatory), these break down the enzymes that occur naturally in your body. problem is some people produce too much uric acid which then chrystalises in the big joints such as the big toe or elbow, thus causing the gout.
If you have more than one outbreak of Gout ask the GP for Allupurinol, this breaks down the crystals that cause the Gout. as a long term sufferer i know my shit now. i take nothing now but took the Allapurinol for 2 years before that and now im sympton free :old:

Diclofenac works for me. Give up Cider, Larger, Red Wines there the worst for getting Gout.I now drink White Wines or Real Ale there ok for me so far. If you cant give up the drink try to drink less.GOOD LUCK.
