The above is a YouTube Video where Dato' Sri Mohd Najib the Prime Minister of Malaysia makes a speech (mostly in Malay, but some English) about the 1Malaysia Programme on youth football which is drawing on the expertise of Cardiff City youth coaches like Scott Young.
I know everyone will question why the club are not concentrating their efforts more at home in finding the next Aaron Ramsey but there may be a bigger picture here.
OK at the moment this is guess work, but in early 2012 the Federal Land Development Authority in Malaysia is launching a $2b stock market float by liquidising some of its massive land reserves. This is the same company (FELDA) which recently signed a deal with Cardiff City via TG and his football development in 1Malaysia.
PM Najib will oversee the sale of FELDA stock (I wonder who might get a huge chuck of that?) and it also transpires that the biggest commodity produced by FELDA is Palm Oil, the stuff you stick into all that cosmetics stuff e-COSWAY sells!!!!
1Malaysia Programme is also the big brainchild of Najib and is central to his hopes of being re-elected in the General Election in July 2013, which is mysteriously just before VT is due to buy out CCFC lock stock and barrel in September of that year. So is that a classic case of I scratch your back you scratch mine?
As I said absolute guess work on my behalf, but something has to explain why we are opening these benevolent soccer schools in the poorer parts of Malaysia and for me the carrot of getting a piece of $2b would be more than enough incentive to do so.
