I AGREE WITH MALKY MACKAY, BUT THIS ALSO SHOWS WE BADLY NEED 3 or 4 MORE PLAYERS "
Read everything Malky says, we played with 3 injured players yesterday.
Fair play to Malky he is performing miracles with this current Squad, but it can only continue in my opinion if our board give him more money to strengthen and the sooner the better.

Malky Mackay: ‘We’ll be stronger after the break’

by Paul Abbandonato, Wales On SundayNov 6 2011.

MALKY MACKAY believes the international break has come just at the right time for his Cardiff City players.

“We’ve had seven matches in 22 days and have ended that run with three games in a week against teams who were each higher than us in the Championship,” said the Bluebirds boss.

“Yes we’ve got momentum and belief after the way we have performed against Crystal Palace, Derby and Leeds and in a way it would be great to keep that going.

“But we have a group of players here who have given so much to the cause they need time to regroup before we face Reading. As such, the international break comes at a good moment for us.

“We had three players out there against Palace who were injured. If they had to play again this week, those injuries would get worse because of fatigue.

“It’s better for them to come back refreshed in two weeks’ time when we might also have Rudy Gestede and Rob Earnshaw back to bolster our options.”

He continued: “While I’m delighted with everything the players have done in the last few days, I’m also just as pleased with the work of my staff.

“The effort put in by the medics, sports scientists and coaches to ensure the players were still going strong in the last five minutes against Palace underlines what a good job they have done.

“It was an excellent end to an excellent week for us.

“We were playing a Palace team who have been flying, have kept six successive clean sheets, work hard, deny you space and try to hit you on the counter with pacy wingers.

“But we stood firm, our defence was magnificent and Kenny Miller and Peter Whittingham got the goals which won the day for us.

“I thought we controlled the match more in the second half and deserved to come away with the three points.”

Asked about Miller’s prowess in front of goal, Mackay could hardly talk up his master marksman enough.

Miller also netted in wins over West Ham and Southampton and appears to have the knack of getting goals in the big games.

“That is why Kenny was the fifth top scorer in Europe last season. He knows how to score in the heat of tight games,” said Mackay.

“He’s done it regularly at club level in big European matches and also in international football with Scotland. He’s also doing it with Cardiff City and that’s why I brought him to the club.

“But I also have to talk about our defence. I thought they were tremendous today.”

Craig, He has, but they either want to much money or the other Clubs wont release them for more than a month.
We cant just rely on loans either in my opinion.

Malky has been quoted as saying that he will not get players in just for the sake of it. If the right type of player (one's that are as good as or better than we already have) becomes available then he will try his utmost to bring them in, but he doesn't want to upset the team spirit or togetherness of the current squad. I agree that the numbers need bolstering but Malky is right in his thinking, we need players that can enhance the squad not one's that could potentially upset the balance and spirit in the team. I dare say we could've got El Haj Diouf in ahead of Doncaster but as good as he is he wouldn't be a good fit for the team.

To be honest, I have not been counting, but 7 games in 22 days is too much. All three international breaks have come at good times for us.

Changing the subject, does anyone know where Gavin Rae is now?

He has also been quoted in saying he needs at least 3 more players, look what happened at Watford when their board never backed him. I hope we can sustain this amazing football,guts/bottle and passion with such a small squad. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Agree totally Annis, just need to make sure the players we target are right for this team. Is it VT and TG who are crying shy of new signings or is it Malky being ultra careful of using what money he's been offered in a sensible way?

Malky is very very careful and I applaud him for that, but his budget is low and lower than anticipated.

Last year we had Dave Jones with his hands in his pockets.

I hope that this year, the Malaysians haven't taken over his hobby.

Seems like we'll all have to cross our fingers and hope that the budget is at least enough to strengthen a little and that the money is used as prudently as possible (no JET, JLS or Koumas type signings), but in Malky I trust, I also expect the board to come up with some cash albeit less than we'd all like and if anybody can use a little money and find a gem or 2 it's Malky.

I couldnt agree with Annis anymore .He is 100% right in saying we NEED more players You will NOT be able to see the season through and really achieve with the squad there now.Not becuase they are not good enough or they do not try enough or anything like that .The bottom line is they are human and they will get injuries and they can not keep up the pace for the whole season .Yes the manager and players have done brilliant (getting over the Leeds performance) BUT new legs are desperately needed to see the season throughWHY wait for the shit to hit the fan before acting?

TG was quoted on BBC Wales saying that Malky would receive the boards backing when the transfer window opens in January, I guess we just gotta sit tight until then gents. If nothing happens in January that when we need to kick up a fuss about the lack of financial backing. Hopefully it's been quiet lately due to restrictive loans options and not the Malaysian owners lack of backing.

Fantastic results lately, can't fault MM

Even one or two more players would be a massive plus. We need some wide players at the moment and we are relying on Conway who is way off the button at present. But Annis we are going great Guns at the moment i would hate off the field matters to ruin it for this team and us.

Mike, The current board can decide them selves what to do, Sam has no control what so ever over them.

Yes I agree and have always said we need to bring in 2/3 player 3 being better ! We have been luck that with all the injury problems we have had , that whitts wasnt one of them. Whitts is making all the play and bring players into the game with his distribution of the ball. If he gets injured for any amount of time we are going to see one hell of a different side. Also we must remember this , that whitss under MM orders is going into more tackles now and running the ball down, this means he is more likely to get an injury at some time in the season. :ayatollah:

The 2nd half was brilliant the 1st half was anything but and our defence still looks suspect and I thought both Kiss and more so Conway had poor games and Craig Conway complete lack of pace is starting to get quite telling . Fair due there turned it on for the 2nd half , but I do have issues with our defence and more the lack of true quality or any sort of pace up front

Malky really needs to get some pace in the Mid-field and a new striker in (workmanship can only go on for so long, before a lack of an squad starts to bite) and if Whitts gets injured for any length of time , I think we're fucked - That man is GOD of late and has to be, the best player in the whole of the championship at the mo; I'be amazed if some of the Premiership clubs (maybe even Villa) don't come in with bids for him in the Jan window

MM has said on more than one interview that he did talk with 3 players but there wage demand was too much. Also in a interview just the other day he was ask about other players and said , Yes we are still looking but things must be happy with the players and with us and the loan club, there is alot to take into consideration, but yes we are still looking and talking to a few clubs.
