WHITTINGHAM PLAYS BETTER WHEN HE'S A CLUB FAVOURATE

Sat Nov 05, 2011 9:03 pm

Not sure if anyone will agree but it seems he's a confidence player, since signing him in 2007 especially in his first season and the season just gone he was notorious for having quiet games and not contributing enough,

once he was settled in at the club his performances were always sublime, and was a fan favourate, times whem chopra and bothroyd took the limelight and he recieved some critisism or wasn't regarded as a main player, his performances notably dropped at times,
fine example now this season he's at his best and i have no doubt in my mind he will finish top scorer again

Joint top goalscorer and joint top assists and no player in the Championship has had more shots on goals or hit the woodwork more times than Whitts.

A huge player for us so please please stay fit. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I wouldn't forget the platform Whittingham is given by his midfield colleages. Conway and Cowie (who both come from the flanks to the centre to help out when needed) along with Kiss and Gunnasson are a solid unit who seem to win every midfield battle in every match now.

This gives Whittingham the time and space to pick out passes which he does with aplomb accuracy.

Spot on about the midfield battles. Id say McPhail has played well when he come in.
But Kiss and Gunnarsson are a more solid pairing. What we lack in finesse with
McPhail we more than make up for with those two and their workrate. they give
Whittingham more freedom to dictate things AND protect the defence. They have
also both proved they can score goals, something thats always been lacking in McPhails
game. Though they are both defensively minded they are also willing to gamble
and get in the box
