Malky Last Night

Thu Nov 03, 2011 9:12 am

3 nil up, a minute into injury time , Malkey on the edge of his technical area organising and encouraging his whole defence kicking every ball with them to make sure they kept a clean sheet.

A handshake and hug for every single player at the final whistle, then went over to the fans and clapped and clenched fist salute

What a difference to last year :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

The first real challenge of that cup run was Portsmouth in the final. Jones blew it not for the first time or last.

No it's about as clever as changing what I said. Just for your information I said "The first real challenge of that cup run was Portsmouth in the final. Jones blew it not for the first time or last."

That was in response to your accolade for Jones getting us to the FA Cup Final. It has always been my opinion that just about any manager should have got us to the Final because we had a run of very winnable ties.

The first real challenge was Portsmouth because they were a Premiership team and more importantly WANTED the win. Jones blew it by not playing Aaron Ramsey (unbelieveably thinking either McPhail or Rae were better) and not even trying to match Portsmouth tactically by going with his steadfast 4-4-2.

As another poster said, if MM had been in charge at least we might have had a chance, unfortunatley with Jones in charge that was never going to be the case.

Watch the game and I think that question will answer itself. TBH at the time Middlesbrough were in turmoil their form was dire and Gareth Southgate was under immense pressure. I can remember when the draw was made and just about everyone was of the opinion that the game was very winnable.

firstly: we may have had a fairly easy cup run, but at the end of the day we played alot of teams who would have looked at us and said "winnable"
second: its not like we got destroyed, it was a 1 nil against prem opposition, i'm no jones lover, but to say he failed us by getting us to our 1st final since 1927 and then losing 1-0 isnt exactly testiment to how shit he is!

Re: Malky Last Night

I went to Boro and got to say they were very poor as were all the rest in that cup run would of MM left rambo on the bench i don't think so.
Dave Jones in my eyes done nothing ok play off final lost fa cup final lost thats all he has done.

Re: Malky Last Night

even if Middlesboro were in turmoil Cardiff travelled away and thoroughly outclassed and beat a side convincingly that lined up as;

Schwarzer, Young, Wheater, Huth, Pogatetz, O'Neil, Arca, Rochemback, Downing, Alves, Sanli.
Subs: Turnbull, Boateng, Mido, Johnson,

There are a number of decent players in that squad....

at the time the bookies had them down as 2nd favourites to win the cup, and we hadn't even beaten a premiership team since 2002
