And a quick f**k YOU to all the Kenny Miller knockers. Footballing dimwits

In a 4-5-1 he's never going to score as many goals as he'd like, but he's leading the line
brilliantly. He's taken on an unfamiliar job and been superb!!

Most definitely! :ayatollah:

But Joe has the advantage of youth. He was always going to be given
a bit of leeway. Miller looked off form for the first two months and got
malleted on here

Totally agree about Miller TA it was obvious (to me any way) that he would come good having taken an interest in his career due to his Rangers conections.

However, young Mason is brilliant at running the channels and does it better than any other striker at the club IMO. If he can work on his finishing (again Miller would be a great mentor) then it won't be long before we have a £5m striker on our hands.

Mason is going to be special. I LOVED his goal against Barnsley. Great free kick by
Whitts but Mason was on the keeper like a cheap suit. Sign of a proper finisher that!

Kenny has played the lone striker for Scotland for years, as well as in Europe for Rangers.
It's one of his strongest positions IMO

and it seems to be working for us lately :ayatollah:

Re: 4-5-1

I don't understand why people have a problem with 4-5-1 at home.....so many attacking options from the mid however a few people have said for away only to me. I do agree when we play long balls at home its rubbish however think this would be the same with two upfront. 4-5-1 all the way in my eyes home + away!

I been thinking about these transfers/loans and been a person saying we need a few more players in the team. But over the last month I have been asking who would you drop from the team? Keeping in mind the nine new players we bought in would of signed up to the club wanting to play. I cant see us being able to sideline any of these new players this year (taking out the young ones Rudy/Joe/Kiss) this year. So if your looking to bring in a loan/transfer of someone who would you drop or think you could drop? I don't see Conway/Cowie/Gun being sidelined for a better/higher standard player. Goofy I think will be upset being on the sideline currently and we have good depth in our defense if not one too many. Its more sub 21 year olds looking to develop who we will look to get....plus they will be happier to play a few games

Re: 4-5-1

To a certain extent, we have had to play a regular 4-5-1 as for much of the time we have only had one fit striker! We also played the 442 diamond well when we had the fit personel.

A target man striker, a bit like Bothroyd (but who doesn't fall over!), and a speedy wide man added to the squad would enhance both formations. :ayatollah: :)

Re: 4-5-1

Nothing wrong with 4-5-1 as we don't stick to it. When we have the ball it's more or less a 4-3-3 only reverts back when we lose possesion. As for Barcelona, they play nothing like a 4-5-1. I follow spanish football a lot, twice this season Barca have played a 3-7 (insane i know) usually they play 4-6 as they play no strikers just attack minded mids and wingers, they could play Villa up top, but he's so good at cutting in from the left he's used out there all the time. That team is just such a freak occurence people want to watch them as much as possible as they will go down as the greatest ever team, along with the Brazil of the 70's, Ajax of the 70's and AC Milan late 80'S/90's.

Yes they did. They played with Ibrahimovic up top on his own all the time.
Messi was just like a floating whatever he wanted to be coming in from
the right (usually)

Re: 4-5-1

Actually, it is more correct to say it's 4-1-4-1. The nominal holding midfield player, linking between the back four and the midfield four, when he pushes up into midfield releases a player in front of him to join in with our attacks.

Having him in the system didn't work out as well as they wanted though, relatively speaking of course. So they felt the need to get rid and revert back to what craig said above

Re: 4-5-1

Fri Nov 04, 2011 3:32 pm

4-5-1 is ok as long as we can get at teams as well. Our full backs need to be able to push forward when we have the ball and somes side will catch us on the break. It all really depends who we have fit and who we are playing. Mal has picked it right 95% of the season so onwards and upwards.

Re: 4-5-1

Fri Nov 04, 2011 3:46 pm

Agreed 451 every game now

But where does that leave Earnie Gestede and parkin

we only have kis and Blake as cover for midfield so injuries to Macca or any others in the middle will mean we hav eto revert to 442
