I find Swansea a really depressing town. I commute to Cardiff from Neath 5 days a week and a lot of people from Swansea travel to Cardiff every day - can't blame them - for work and pleasure.

Cardiff is more than OK, in my opinion, it's an excellent city, although I find it less friendly these days. That's probably due to the large amount of outsiders in it each day, though. They don't tend to be as friendly as Cardiffians.

It is a horrible drug. Those that push it should face a mandatory life sentence. Those that use and commit crime need locking up and put in solitary confinement until they kick the habit-methadone doesnt help in the long term.

Well in your uneducated eyes it may appear to be depressing but at least we're educated enough to appreciate what we have ,

PREMIERSHIP FOOTBALL , something which must really depress you lot .

You may consider Cardiff inhabitants as friendly but from this side of West Wales you appear to be extremely bitter .Cardiff must be utopia but sorry to shatter your illusions .it's not it has its same problems as other cities in this country and if you can't see that that you're only deluding your selves

As iv said crdiff gets alot more investment then ,yes you are the capitol and should get more, but to have three citys in wales and two are in such bad state is beond me,out of the three swansea is the true costal city and has so much more to offer if money was spent here anywere near as is in cardiff.
To say its because it the capitol is bollox,as london is a super capitol but Birmingham Manchester and countless other citys are looked after, and Edinburgh capitol of Scotland yet Glasgow is thriveing, truth is our government is pushing to centralise every thing in cardiff to put it on the wider map and by doing so its deprived other areas of wales, and that is why many down here dislike you and even wales footy as it is more or less based and biased towards you.
And got to laugh, you keep calling us a town?you are not that much biger then us, and if you go by actual area size,ie gower, down to ponterdulias we are biger then you,so get of your high horse ffs,and for al the assemblys centralising out side of wales you are not eoven a large city.

My Daughter spent 3 years studying in Swansea Uni and I found parts of Swansea to be very pleasant but the city Centre really needs investment and there is definitely many druggies and alcoholics around the centre which are quite visible. There was a drug drop in centre quite close to the student area close to the bottom of Constituton Hill and i was wary of walking past this area because in the side streets and back alleys there were many addicts.

However when you say all the investment goes into Cardiff and nothing to Swansea i don't think this is true because there has been significant investment in the Marina Area which is now a very pleasant area to visit and also as you come into Swansea there is a lot of developement i think it's called SA1?

So there seems to be investment but possibly in the wrong areas as the city Centre needs re development with regards to the size of the respective Citys i can't see how you can claim the Gower and Pontardulais has part of the City because it would be the equivalent of Cardiff claiming the Vale of Glamorgan has part of the City

Not having a go at Swansea because it is in a great location with the Mumbles being a particular attraction but i really think the money being spent on the outskirts of the City could be put to better use in the City Centre :?:

I am sure Cardiff and the surrounding areas has at least twice the population of Swansea and the surrounding areas, of course it should get more funding! Stop being bitter about it, get a grip and face the facts.

Good posts lads, but gower ans ponnt are in swansea as the boundary is jersey marine and lougher esstary, and trebanos to rossily,,that's the swansea council area,,cardiff infact is far smaller but a bigger urban and built up area and yes population, by 100k,,,and yes swansea has had money, but not nearly enough and in dribs and drabs, swansea I'm sad to say is had it I think to much money needs to be spent,,

WAG have been de-centralising, moving jobs from Cardiff to the Valleys and up north so you're spouting bollocks.
We are much bigger than you, actual area size has nothing to do with it, population is how it's calculated.
No we are not a large city outside Wales, who gives a shit. Wales isn't a big country.

swansea might be spread out along the coast but its not very populated, what is it now 220,000? its alsso dropping whereas Cardiff is actually growing and has extended it boundaries in recent years aswell as building endless flats in on brownfield sites all around the city making traffic much worse but feeling much more like a bigger city now in places. up to 400,000 pop now according to my mate in the council and that doesnt include penarth which has no boundary to the city and might aswell just be another suburb. tis not good tho whats happening with the brown down there, almost as bad in Cardiff but because the place isnt so run down you just dont think about it so much. Have known quite a few junkies, some are here but never see them, others have moved onto the the next life. shocking drug.

They move the jobs in an effort to spread them around Wales but when they have moved some jobs to North Wales for example they have found a skilled labour shortage and end up advertising the positions in Liverpool and Chester and employing people living in england. Whats the point in that? May as well keep the job in Wales by leaving them in Cardiff.

Why do so many jacks go on and on about cardiff getting everything -its bollox. These guys are deluded and always fuckin moan - I think the bitterness is handed down every generation.
As I've wrote before - lots of cardiff and swansea fans are not from those cities and their areas have fcuk all for proper investment. SA1/copper quarter/liberty and morfa park/forestfach etc -loads of development.

As I was told by a Jack (who refuses to go into the centre of swansea at all) "the council has done what the Germans failed to do in the swansea blitz -and wrecked the fuckin place"

That's got f**k all to do with WAG or Cardiff - its ur own corrupt insular politicians who have turned swansea city centre into a dive and let out of towns be developed. Who in their right mind would put a council estate on the best land overlocking the city (Townhill) that place, if planned wisely, could have been ur beverly hills.

There is much more scummy types in swansea and a lot of it is bred in. Half of all jacks I know are always after a deal or something off the back of a lorry or fiddling insurance or nicking stuff.
You've got mumbles and gower on ur doorstep and a beach in ur city with a team in the premier league. Aint that enough to inspire???
Its cos some Jacks they think the world owes them and everybody is getting it better then them. Well that's shit.

One life we've got - go make something of yourself -stop blaming and start fuckin doing.

If they aint sorting ur brown town out -vote some fucker else in.

Funny ,never heard Swanasea folks complaining about their lot ,we just tend to get on with it,Its only brought up on sites like this when there's been a programme on the box which you then pick the bones out of.The council by and large do try to supply and support the needs of the city but as as where every where else , monies tight .
Cardiff has better shopping facilities and I know a lot of people who prefer to shop there than Swansea , no disgrace in that but they're taking money from the City which all slowy adds to the decline.

Smack heads are every where ,thats not a chosen life style and once in difficult to get out of.No jobs no hope I'm afraid.
More programmes about the poverty and the like will become more prevelant as time goes on due to the finanicial collapse and it may not be apparent to you in Cardiff at the moment but if it continues then it will start to affect you .What about other areas of Wales where poverty is more apparent ,in this day and age it's a disgrace .So I wouldn't be so smug about Cardiff ,it's all a matter of luck but one thing for sure for me is what ever happens I wouldn't want to live anywhere else .
