I must say I agree that new players are a necessity. I think we need some extra quality. Lenin could tell us that.
However, some of our current players will almost definitely suffer with the arrival of new additions and be left out in the cold. I find it hard to balance the two viewpoints that we already have the quality, but need to tinker more, and the viewpoint that an overhaul is needed.
If we get a new striker in, what happens to Earnie, Rudy and probably one of Joe or Kenny? How do they get game time if we bolster that position?
Take centre back as another example. We already have a surplus of centre backs - Whats to say we dont have the right players already, and that we just need a bit more tinkering to find the right balance?
Personally, the only positions I think we REALLY must improve are on both wings.
I would love to see a pacey right winger, ala Routledge or Burke, come in to free Cowie to play in the middle with Whitts and Aron Gunnarsson (Kiss, Mcphail and Blake to cover if needed). Conversely on the left, I'd like a nice alternative to Conway to help freshen things up.
I really think we just need those 2 or 3 players brought in, and everything will be sorted.

Disagree RE: Conway + Cowie, and if I'm honest I think we have a pretty good midfield set up. Our main problem is our defence but as you said more playing around and trying different CB partnerships I personally think would sort that. I'm liking how we play in a 4-5-1 formation but I still haven't decided who I rather as our 'lone striker'. So really I think if any players were to be brought in it would be as a back up to our squad cause I like it as it is, just perhaps with a bit of potching and perfecting.
