As some of you may know, I've applied for the Royal Welsh (regulars) roughly two months ago. Done a few tests, then was told that I couldn't join the regulars as the government announced budget cuts to the MoD, resulting in the MoD reducing the size of the Armed Forces (regulars) from 120k to 80k.
So I then went for the TA's and after TWO months of waiting for a respone I had a letter last week from the Royal Welsh 3rd Battalion (TA's). I then went to an interview in Swansea last night in Morfa Barracks which is right by the council house (the library stadium). I'm currently on the reserve list for a medical in two weeks, the doctors will only give 4 medicals in 1 day so if one of the 4 lads drop out I'll be asked to go instead, if I get the medical and pass the next selection day is 12/13th November, if I get selected then I could be starting training a month later. However, IF I dont get called the have a medical I'll have to wait until the next medical then wait for the next selection day which is 7th January and IF I get selected I could be training on 7th February.
Just thought I'd give you all a little update on it.
