Gunnarson and Turner

Mon Oct 24, 2011 8:31 pm

Both imports from Coventry this season. So as I work in Coventry with some of their ST holders I started doing some digging on them.

Gunnarson: All were sorry to see him go. He had an excellent first half season but faded in the second. They believe this was down to the decline of football at the Ricoh with most of their good players planning on moving such as the likes of Marlon King. They believe put Gunnarson is a solid team then he will shine. I am confident we are going to see that in him.

Turner. They say when he is good he is outstanding but when he is bad he is awful. I certainly can well believe the latter, I mean who gets outjumped by Chopra? Apparently he has been injured for a while so I suppose we need to give him time to fully recover and prove himself. Saying that I am not too sure about him.

Gunnarsson is very promising. Had mixed feelings about him in pre-season but now he's proved me wrong. :ayatollah:

I agree, I think Malky has made him reach his full potential now and hopefully he keeps banging those goals in :ayatollah:

The only positive about Turner so far is that he is left footed which does sort of balance out the middle a bit , but have to agree though he did get out jumped by Chopra recently ....... shocking defending that !!!!

Turner wasn't outjumped by Chopra, if you look at the footage again, you'll see that Turner went towards the front post to help cover and the ball went to the back post, nigh on landing on Chopra's head, with Chopra barely having to jump for the ball at all!

Turner tried to get back to the far post, but only jumped up on the line, to try and stop Chopra's effort from going in, without directly competing for the ball with Chopra!

If Turner can be blamed for the goal in any way, it's for leaving Chopra alone in the first place!

I've no idea how he played at Peterborough, but Turner was very good against Ipswich and IMO, he was superb against Barnsley!

I'm not getting carried away with Turner though, as he's only played 3 full games for us, but I'm very impressed with his contribution so far! :ayatollah:

Apparently Gunnarson can also play right-back? I just can't see that as he is a bit slow.

In the middle of the park though he does seem to thrive.

Turner seems to have all the attributes to be an outstanding Centre-Half, I suppose we will have to wait and see.

The guy attacking is fantastic! Against Barnsley you could see after Cowies goal he thought 'fxxk it' ill grab a second goal which he did!
